They should have the guts to finally kill off the IJ character and hand the proverbial franchise torch off properly, since that seems to be primary goal.
Spielberg and Lucas are the last guys on earth to pass up a paycheck.

Ford will die of old age (he's nearly 70) before Indiana Jones dies in the movies.

Part fives usually suck. That said, if this is released in theaters, I will go see it. I'm a sucker for the series.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Same with Ford. He made $60 million off Crystal Skull.

I'm just reminded of when Ford went on Conan, and he made the "Its all about they money," gesture when discussing whether or not he'd do another Indy movie.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

LOL no, the guy who edited the clip made a research and picked similar scenes from over 30 different movies. Spielberg and Lucas openly say that Indy is a homage to those adventure serials they watched as kids.

Contrary to what the title of this thread says, it's doubtful this will ever be made.

I'm an eternal optimist. I'll always see a part 5 as a chance to undo the last one. When that fails, I'll look forward to part 6. With ever diminishing enthusiasm of course.

@Duke: these things never happen in Belgium. I wouldn't even know where to look for an Imax screen. Crushingly dissapointing.

Personally, I haven't really liked any of Spielberg's movies since Catch Me if You Can (and that one was just alright), although War of the Worlds and Munich both had some interesting elements. With War Horse, the most I can say is, "I see what he was going for but he didn't really pull it off." Indiana Jones and the I Need a Surefire Hit After Munich to Stay Commercially Viable and The Achingly Bland Franchise Movie Based on a Beloved Text in 3D are generic blockbuster filmmaking; competently executed but lacking imagination.

    That's probably horribly accurate.

@Baby Doll: I agree. Another Vintage Spielberg has been long overdue, but Munich came close.

In fairness Revenge of the Sith was the best of the prequels. So it's not an unreasonable perspective.

The problem here is Shia though. I don't give a fuck about him.

Maybe Shia is a tougher sell since he might be positioned as the new hero after Harrison Ford, who immortalized the character. With Christensen, who was pretty wooden in the second one and a little better in the third one, there's no real reason to bemoan him replacing Jake Lloyd.

And now there's reboot talk going around town. Sans Ford quite possibly.

    http://latino-review.com/2014/03/exc...mes-bond-path/

this was inevitable anyway, but i'm not envying the guy who's gonna replace Ford. Perhaps they should go the unknown route, like how they got Brandon Routh for Superman Returns. If not, I could see someone like Olyphant doing a good job.

Quote Quoting actor who got his heart ripped out in Temple of Doom
I asked them specifically, “Why is this happening?” And they said, “Because there’s going to be a scene where your body goes into molten lava, and we’ll be using this cast.” Actually, they made a lifelike face of mine for the film, including glass eyes. That was because, once the cage was lowered into this pit of molten lava, my body would disintegrate and you would see my face floating. But that scene was too gory for the censors, so they cut that! [Laughs.] If you ever get a chance to see the uncensored version, that will be there …

No, I was never given a script. At all. The first day that I arrived on the set of Elstree, I was introduced to Steven and the rest of them, and they said, “Look, this is what it is: You’re a Thuggee and you’re going to be sacrificed, OK?” That set, with the Kali statue, was really incredible. And they said, “OK, you’re going to be in that cage. And they’re going to pull you towards it, and you’re going to die and you’re frightened. So: What would you say?” I said, “Well, I think I’d say ‘om namah shivaya.’ It’s a prayer type of thing that you say before you die; you pray to the god Shiva.” And then they checked that with Amrish Puri, and he said “Yeah, yeah, that’s right.”
    Wish that video was around.
