If it's no better than the board game, I'd pass.
Reviews are saying that it is better / much better than the board game.

Meg pointed this out to me!

Xia: Legends of a Drift System is back up for another printing on Kickstarter.

    GET IT!

Also, get the expansion. It's a must have for the game to be really great.

Backed Nemesis last night with a little help from scotch and gentle prodding from Bac0n.

Last week I picked up a Kickstarter bundle of the 1st edition of Folklore: The Affliction

And a cool looking SF/Western card game called Grimsliners.

I'd been eye fucking it for a couple days. Considering the massive amount of stretch goals, it was a good purchase. Can always get the expansions down the road.

the Dark Souls card game does sound good! I wonder why the same company couldn't work that magic with the board game?

Yeah - you definitely get a lot of stuff with that one. Isn't it from the same company that made This War of Mine and Lords of Hellas?

    I believe that's what Bac0n was saying.

They're quickly becoming one of the most interesting developers of Ameritrash/thematic games.

Today we finally tried the awesomeness that is Mansions of Madness.

I can see this becoming an obsession.

Going to pick that one up in March. In the mean time, I might get the Bloodborne card game.

Bloodborne card game is cool. Actually pretty light, but with great flavor especially if you like the video game.

This War of Mine was kind of next level... I liked it a lot, pretty much for the same reasons I like the video game. My friend wasn't much of a fan. It's not casual. Seems like it would play just as well solo?

This War of Mine works better as a solo game, IMO.

Scar was kicked out of the house for the weekend, so we decided to hang out and descend into the very depths of nerd hell, heading over to a gaming convention the name of Con of the North.

There, I played a game of Scythe with the 6-7 player and larger game board add-ons. It was pretty epic!

I was saddled with Clan Albion of the Scottish highlands (green), and given that I was one of two factions without a body of water between myself and the factory (if you occupy the factory, you get some very useful additional abilities), I decided to press my advantage early on and gun for it right off the bat.

Well, my gambit backfired terribly, and I wound up being spread too thin, and got beat to the factory besides by Colonel Mustard, who would eventually go on to win. I had less than half the points the victor wound up with. Still a fun time was had, and I learned a lot of useful tricks and strategies to employ next time.

Scar was a little bored, but he managed to occupy his time by purchasing two games so huge, I was thinking we were gonna need a forklift to get them home!

Looks fun guys! I don't personally like Scyth, but I recognize that it is a good game. I love the art.

I feel like this is an in joke that I’m not in on.

Upon the completion of the game, he cue'd this up on his phone:

    Enjoy.

Lords of Hellas, a kickstarter I joined last June, arrived yesterday, and MAN, it sure is easy on the eyes.

It's packed with some really great looking minis, such as this 3 inch tall Zeus right here. So much crap, in fact, that it took a little creative re-positioning just to get the box to close all the way. Can't wait to give this a play!
