So, it has RPG elements, but you can play it in a couple of hours and be done with it?

    IN
Yeah. Each mission is basically on hyperspeed. On the first tile, you might get 10-12 pieces of loot. The second tile might bump the game up to level two, with another 12 or so pieces of loot. You are constantly leveling up, getting new stuff, and fighting tougher monsters. You go from level 1 to level 5 (the max) in 2-3 hours, in a single mission, then you start over.

    It's fun.

I think I like ZBP more, just because it gets absolutely insane with the amount of minis on the board, but MD is good.

Just note that the picture shown include all of the kickstarter stuff.

KickStarter is up for a new horror game from the makers of Secrets of the Lost Tomb and Secrets of the Lost Station.

    Coma Ward
Have it on my radar. Will most likely back it.

Got my copy of Dungeon Degenerates last night. It is, without a doubt, the best looking board game I've ever seen. It's a total old school, grognard, hardcore fantasy adventure game, made by a bunch of punk-metal heads in Portland.

Definitely going to be playing this thing with a black light.

Damn, so cool. You should have Dark Side of the Moon playing when you play it.

Oh, for sure. Along with Sabbath, Ghost BC, Hawkwind, etc.

    That’s incredible.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    Purchase here.

I have a feeling that this game is going to be worth a lot of money in the future.

Would love to buy it, but $30USD to ship to Canada is absurd.

I'll wait to hear your thoughts on the actual game play, Double-D. 70 bucks is a lot to plunk down on a game without knowing how it plays, no matter how cool it looks - tho the premise seems right up my alley.

Yeah. They're a small company, and do everything themselves and by hand. They don't have any kind of bulk mailing discount.

It's a bummer. Maybe they'll get some distro. Not sure how many copies they had printed.

My game of the year. Played it 10 times this past weekend. Looking to join my first tournament play soon. Absolutely brilliant. Longer write-up in the works.

Cool. Always attracted to the Warhammer 40K universe but never had the time or money to invest in it.

    The Rooms

Modern game books (paragraph adventures, Choose Your Own Adventures, Fighting Fantasy, etc.) are getting really cool.

This one is called The Rooms. In it, you are exploring an apartment in which strange things are happening. The apartment seems to be straight out of House of Leaves, in that it appears to be bigger than it actually is.

The book is a perfect marriage of form and function. When you open a door, you fold over a flap on the page, to reveal what's behind the door. Sometimes it is more text, sometimes it is a picture, or a clue. Depending on how you explore, you're given choices on what to do next.

The game book also comes with a paper smart phone, on which you keep notes, and keep track of what clues and symbols you've discovered.

You're trying to solve some kind of supernatural mystery, although the main plot is only hinted at, and you must discover what is happening as you play the game.

It's a good game. Could have been a HUGE hit had WOTC supported it. They let it die, though.
