Good to hear that This War of Mine is so awesome. That Lords of Hellas game I backed a few months ago is from the same studio.

I'd want to play that. The video game was something else.

Too bad I know nobody that I would play that with.

It's basically a solo game. Probably best that way. That's how I play it mostly. Mostly.

TWoM came with a promo figure for Lords of Hellas. It's yours for $20. Let me know, and I'll ship it off. Never even been opened. They included it as a Kickstarter bonus.

Would that promo figure happen to be Leonidas?

Wow, I'm getting more and more stoked for this Secrets o' The Lost Station with every update they send out. They have stretch goals, basically new adventure packs that they are throwing in with each threshold above the funding goal they cross. One is inspired by The Thing, another by Serenity, and now, one inspired by Interstellar. This is gonna be one fun game.

If it's half as good as Lost Tomb you are going to absolutely love it.

    Did they relaunch the Kickstarter?

$150, for all in without miniatures. This is seriously a TON of game for the price. Will last you months.

For those who like story-based board games, the Kickstarter for Reanimator: The Board Game looks pretty neat.

My lord...the base KS for Massive Darkness comes with a LOT of plastic.

I mainly got it for two reasons:

    1. To use the minis in Warhammer Quest and Frostgrave. At the price, it was about a buck a model, and for the quality of the models, that's an amazing value.
    2. I have everything for Zombicide Black Plague, and you can use all that stuff in MD.

MD is basically Zombicide Black Plague 1.5. I know a lot of people are complaining about MD's campaign mode being broken, but that's not really what these games are about. I wish people would realize that not all games need some grand campaign mode. ZBP is great fun for one-off sessions, and I'm sure MD will be as well.

    That's cookoo for cocoa puffs!

As a side, this KS for Champions of Hara has me intrigued, but with The Thing game coming out soon, I think I might hold off. Speaking of which, Megs - have you heard of that game?

I really like the art in Scythe. It's beautiful. Cool lore and backstory, too.

Unfortunately, I don't like the game much. I've played it twice and found it really dry both times. I was never really engaged, or having any fun.

I realize I am in a small minority i/r/t this game..

Massive Darkness. Is it really that bad?

Quick answer. No. It's not. It's actually pretty damn fun.

This isn't going to be a full review. That will come later, maybe.

I did get this to the table a few weeks ago. Played with two players, and we had a lot of fun. It's exactly what I thought it was going to be: a fast paced, slightly altered, slightly re-themed Zombicide Black Plague. And because I knew what to expect, my expectations were met.

The problem people are having with this game is that they wanted something different. Fans wanted, and demanded, a long campaign style game, and on Kickstarter enough people demanded this that the developers tacked one on.

Let's get one thing straight - not every dungeon dive needs to have a long campaign with connected adventures and progression.

Massive Darkness works very well when it's played as a series of one-off adventures. The progression system in this mode is great fun. The characters burn through loot and XP like they're going out of style. I played a character who could us any weapon as a thrown weapon, and my backpack was simply overflowing with dozens and dozens of weapons. It was an absolute blast to imagine him reaching into a giant satchel and chucking axes, spears, swords, daggers and other stuff at all the monsters. He was like a walking automatic pitching machine.

So yeah. My buddy and I had a lot of fun playing this. We got our butts kicked in the first scenario we played, handedly (Pro Tip: don't stand on the same space as the monster spawn token!), and had a good challenge with the second scenario we played.

If you like Zombicide Black Plague, there is no reason not to pick up Massive Darkness. It's good fun, with a great look, and lots of neat stuff.

I am very interested in creating adventures for this. I have a lot of ideas that will make the game even better, without adding a campaign or adding a ton of complexity.

So, it has RPG elements, but you can play it in a couple of hours and be done with it?
