    Mad Max: Fury Road

word is this is a go and could begin shooting by the end of the year. George Miller is overseeing the project.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

    Huh.

Apparently this is going to be live-action, instead of the 3D anime that he originally had planned. I have to say, I'm relieved.

Well, I wouldn't say Hollywood - Miller's been trying to do this film for almost seventeen years, ten for the screenplay they've decided to use. It was just on the verge of shooting in Iraq before war broke out, which is why he moved on to Happy Feet.

Also, shouldn't it be Mad Max 4?

    Just a thought.

Oh, and 'gee, I wonder what this bodes for his sequel to Happy Feet,' but that's a given. Hopefully, that will follow suit and lose the 3D aspect.

This looks terrifying. What is it going to be rated? And why did Max have to kill that poor lizard?

I've always found this franchise pretty lame, but I'd be lying if I said that trailer wasn't really damn cool.

The first one's a bore, Beyond Thunderdome is kind of funny in how bad it is.

The Road Warrior is one I've watched 3 times now to try and "get" what people love about it so much...and I just don't.

Maybe I'm just not one for vehicular action. I rarely find car chases or stunts to be exciting.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

Death Proof didn't impress you in that respect?

I thought Death Proof was a steaming turd.

    So...no.

I love the lawlessness that pervades the world of Max. Sure, he's a cop, and there are others too, but it's a very uncomfortable world to live in, quite merciless, quite primal and barbaric. That frightens me and gives the first two movies something extra. Plus, it feels timeless in that the only set is the Australian outback. It's a future that feels all too real and close to home.

I don't recall Beyond Thunderdome very well, but remember thinking it wasn't as good as the others.

    It is.

On some days, I think it might be the best. But not all days.

The Mad Max trilogy is the perfect film trilogy. The reality, the myth, the legend.

    Voiceover makes me nervous,
In case you didn't know, the movie has insanely minimal dialogue. Miller didn't even write a script. He just storyboarded the entire movie. Max has a total of 16 lines.

Yeah, I'd heard that. That doesn't have so much to do with my problem with a voiceover (esp. as I'm not sure that's part of the film, or just advertising).

Miller didn't even write a script.
    That is bad.
