The City of the Dead is great, for sure. I love gothic horror from that period. Seeing Black Sunday for the first time was like a revelation for me.

    We watch Uzumaki last night.

I still really like it. It doesn't hold a candle to the original manga, but few things do.

I've seen all of the movies Elvira showed but it was still fun to tune in and see her host.

    Elvira: Mistress of the Dark-8
    House On Haunted Hill-7
City of the Dead-used to be 8.5, now a 9
    Messiah of Evil-8.5

    Good bunch of horror flicks.

Messiah of Evil is a slow burn that's for sure. But man what a payoff.

We've been rewatching the Tombs of the Blind Dead series. Just finished the third, The Ghost Galleon.

I love these movies. They're misogynistic in a way that's typical of the time, but the wild soap opera plots and fun sets and effects more than make up for some grossness.

In this third one, there are some shots of boxes being thrown into an ocean and later a ship sinking that look like they were done with toys in a bathtub.

    Amazing stuff.

I remember watching it for the first time and being surprised how grounded in reality the first 90 minutes is. I think that's what sets it up so well for what comes later.

The Exorcist is one of the all-time best. Skip part 2, but check out 3. Not as good, but still very good.

    I approve of this message.

Yeah. It's a more patient and methodical film than I thought it would be, specially with the way it sets up it's characters and that's why It's so good at creating tension. It's very, very effective.

Yeah, I've heard part 3 is really good. I'll check it out whenever I get a chance.

I am happy to inform everybody that the version of Night of the Creeps available on Amazon Prime is the director's cut that includes the originally intended ending, and not the stupid cheap jumpscare ending. I've always enjoyed this movie, but watching it again for the first time in probably more than a decade, and am happy to find some new appreciation for it. 9/10

I like both endings to NOTC. I own the SE on DVD.

The Exorcist is fantastic and terrifying. The third one is also great as is The Ninth Configuration. I never saw the second Exorcist movie but I hear it is hilariously bad.

Exorcist 2 is unfortunate, because there are minor parts of it that are quite interesting, but the majority of it is bad enough to dominate the whole experience.

Jen insists that there is a version of this movie where the dude in the tank is naked and there are prominent dong shots.

Have you seen a version like this? I've seen both the uncut that you talk about here, and the theatrical. And I ain't seen no dongs.

Also, someone else's post on a other forum just reminded me, 1960 might just be the best year in Horror movie history; I mean, Black Sunday, Peeping Tom, Eyes Without A Face, AND Psycho? I mean, can any other year really match that, or even come close?

I'd add The Flesh and the Fiends to that list.
