You should considering it's great and the remake also rocks.
I think I'll give The Seventh Victim another chance.

Finished Ash vs Evil Dead last night
Ho-lee shit.
I can't believe none of it was spoiled for me. Never saw a screenshot, a reference, nothing.
Freaking incredible. They just went balls to the wall NUTS with that last episode, and it is glorious.
That show is consistently brilliant. It is a shame it got cancelled after just 3 brief seasons, but I think we are incredible lucky we got it at all.
Amazing stuff. I'll be watching this a lot.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
Stars got mad that people signed up for the service just to watch the show and then canceled afterwards. Plus the ratings fell so it got the axe. Still 3 seasons is good for a show these days considering how many get the boot.

Amicus triple feature:
Asylum-Fairly solid bunch of stories where the wrap around and the Charlotte Rampling ones where the best. Not as good as some of their better anthology movies yet still worth a viewing.
And Now the Screaming Starts-Takes way too long to get going, then when it does interesting things happen. Cushing elevates some thin material here.
The Beast Must Die-Solid murder mystery flick that needed more gore and better FX. The werewolf is lame. I dig the attempts at a more interesting murder mystery style movie but this flick is begging to be remade.

Went to Horror Bar last night.
It was at capacity. They did a terrific job by having around 10+ screens playing It Follows, loud just enough where you can really hear the jump scares, but it won't interfere with conversations that are occurring. Everytime someone dies, they'll ring a bell.
They played It Follows, which absolutely played like gangbusters there.
They have horror-inspired cocktails like the Face Hugger (sake w/midori and some other stuff). I had a Skull Island (banana nutella rum - wtf, with some other things I don't remember).
Hope it stays around for a while.
The other night we watched a lesser known giallo called The Red Queen Kills Seven Times. It is by the same director as The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave.
As is common with films of this type, it is beautiful. The images of the woman cloaked in red brandishing a knife are striking.
There is quite a bit of nudity, a very rough rape scene, and some general misogyny that is obviously a product of its time, just giving a warning to anyone who may want to seek this out in case this bothers you.
While I ALMOST loved this, it committed one carnal sin of whodunnits...

That being said, another trope of these films is that they often make very little sense past the surface, as they are focused more on aesthetics and the audio visual experience. So maybe I can forgive it with repeat viewings? I'm not sure.
But I will definitely be watching this again. Especially wanting to watch it in the original Italian. We watched it in English with subs (Jen is losing her vision, and cannot watch subtitled films unless she sits close to the TV), and I definitely got the feeling that the subtitles were more accurate and detailed than the dubbed audio track.
Very solid giallo, strongly recommended to fans of the genre barring that you are OK with the aforementioned content.

"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
That's a good one that I watched last year during my week of giallo viewing via Shudder.

Oh nice! I was thinking I would be the only one here who had seen this!Quoting DFA1979 (view post)
Did you watch it in English or Italian?
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
On Shudder it says it was in Italian so yeah, no dubs. I liked the kills in that one and the mystery was fairly satisfying.Quoting megladon8 (view post)

The Power (2021) -- The themes that this movie approaches are serious ones that definitely deserve to be explored, but I don't feel like this was a particular success. So much of the movie is informed by the theme that the story loses its own power. The climax feels so desperate to drench itself in metaphor that it's not the emotional release the film makers want it to be, it just fizzles out. Add in background music that seems determined to distract and undermine tension, and I'm just left disappointed. 5/10 (Viewed on Shudder.)

Ready Or Not is so freaking good.
I love it.

Agreed. Very welcome surprise. Samara Weaving has one of the best horror movie screams. Haven't seen it since the theater, but I suspect my rating will go up on re-watch. That ending. *chef's kiss*Quoting megladon8 (view post)

I didn't fall for it as a whole, but the ending was indeed awesome.Quoting Spun Lepton (view post)

You know why Ready or Not is great? Because when the shit starting hitting the fan, she immediately ditched the heels and put on realistic shoes for survival. WINNER
I'm surprised we didn't see more Halloween costumes of the torn wedding dress, Converse sneakers, hunting rifle and bullet belt.Quoting Skitch (view post)
She is so awesome, and that character single handedly made me love Samara Weaving.
Man she goes through a lot. The hand!!! The hand!!!! Aaaaahhhh!!!
Would make a great double feature with You're Next.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
Ready or Not is okay, but it really struggles to find ways to have the characters keep meeting up with each other/avoiding escaping. It becomes a bit of a repetitive chore after a while.

I can see this complaint for sure. I was ticked when she gets in the car and drives for a good 2-3 minutes at high speed, then when she stops the dude she left behind on foot has caught up to her immediately.Quoting transmogrifier (view post)
The movie for me was all about her and I thought Weaving sold everything beautifully, from her beginning as an anxious bride right to her maniacal laugh at the end of the craziness. And everything in between.
Question for those who have seen it...

LESS. I would've been mad if it didn't amount to anything.
Agreed.Quoting Skitch (view post)
Considering the opening scene offers up giant obvious clues to the film's twist, um yeah the movie had to deliver on that account.

They're Watching is an odd movie. The tone is kind of all over the place, and Kris Lemche plays one of the most obnoxious, "how do any of you put up with this guy?" characters I've seen in some time.
Also the ending craziness is seriously hampered by budgetary constraints.
I like it, but it has some glaring problems.
Also, Brigid Brannagh is VA-VA-VOOM!

They're Watching is a gem in the rough.
