    Seriously?

That's...not the movie I would have expected to be loaded with science babble.

I liked that one. It looks like a lot of it was filmed on location inside the Field Museum here in Chicago.
Me too. Love it. It has a crappy Hollywood ending but ignore that.

Also hated how they ignored the Pendergast character.

Also, how could anyone forget that I loved it?

If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Babble as in totally bullshit science.

There's a sequel book called 'Reliquary'? Duke is that a good read?

There is and I've read it. It starts off good, but does a 180 from the first book. I guess it depends on when/if you are expecting more of the same (which 14 year old me was when I read it, and probably why it has a sour taste in my memory) or looking for an expanded view of the mythology.

The characters alone are worth revising for it.

30 Days of Night was better than I remembered. It's still nothing special, but entertaining enough and some awesome gore.

Danny Huston is awful as always.

Biggest fault in the movie is that it never feels cold, it's all just so artificial. I don't know if they were riding on the popularity of Sin City and 300 or God knows what, but making a movie set practically in the North Pole and filming it in New Zealand was mega dumb and affected the believability of everything substantially.

Agree Meg. I like the the dread in that movie a lot. Plus I love snow movies.

The ending is kinda bad, and the representative of time when they are in the attic is dumb, but i'ts fun to watch.

Yes thats true!! It felt like it was still the first night, and the text pops up on the screen "Day 18".

Wait, what?? When did all this time pass??

There were also just so, so many questions left unanswered. How the hell did the vampires get there? Did they walk? And even more puzzling, how did Ben Foster's character get there?

Why are all the vampires dressed like nu metal singers?

That was established in the opening shot. They came off the ship.

Hey I read 'Crooked River', their latest Prendergast novel. In a way, it's my sort of read, a page-turner, nothing too esoteric or taxing, but even as those go, this one has some pretty severe dumbness at least one time, and the investigation is kind of facile with clues dug up without major effort. Above average.

    Yes. Yes he did.

Until I get wifi back Horrorfest is suspended. I may go find some movies at Barnes & Noble to watch in the meantime.

I felt dread allright and [
]it was as revoltingly violent as anything I've seen in quite some time. Although queasiness levels were not excessive either since it wasn't in your face. I felt on edge because I kept thinking 'Oh god what the fuck else are they gonna do?!'

One other thing, this movie is funnier than a lot of comedies. Matthew Fox and Richard Jenkins killed it.

Wes Craven's Deadly Friend is awful.

Reading into it, he claimed studio meddling ruined the movie. But what he was going for was pretty odd and awful to start with. It seems the studio meddling (adding gore scenes) were the best parts of the movie.

Dracula 2000 is a mediocre nu metal infused late 90s/early 2000s flick that is fun to watch because HOT DAMN that take on Dracula's origin is 13/10 brilliant.

Like, seriously, freaking brilliant ideas there and should be used again.
