    Adult Swim

One of the greatest of all human achievements. The Adult Swim logo almost always means quality adult-oriented animated programming. I say "almost" because there have been a few "misses", and they also broadcast "Family Guy" which makes me want to launch a full assault to force it off the air.

But the quality they have reached with many of their shows is astounding.

    Aqua Teen Hunger Force
    Sealab 2021
    Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law
    Squidbillies
    Frisky Dingo
    The Venture Bros.
    Metalocalypse

    All Adult Swim originals.

"Frisky Dingo" is nothing short of brilliant.

The zany, pop-culture obsessed antics of "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" and "Sealab 2021" could teach QT a thing or two about paying homage to beloved movies and TV series'.

Surprisingly, I'm just now starting to watch "Metalocalypse", and - in true "Adult Swim" style - it's fantastic. This show would perfectly define the term "loving parody", and I find it hilarious and awesome that the Dethklok music is actually freaking amazing metal.

So, yeah, Adult Swim...spread the love.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

I like some things AS has done, think some are quite brilliant, got tired with most of their shows eventually.

The best thing they ever did was give Home Movies a second chance and then ordered three more seasons.

Haven't watched it over a year, though.

    Yes, "Home Movies" is great.

I've been putting off buying the DVD set because I feel it's a tad overpriced.

I don't think there are any DVDs in my collection that I have played more frequently.

Ditto for me and "Sealab 2021".

I sold my Sealab 2021 season 1 DVD to Thirdmango for $15. He lost the DVD set and I lost the $15 cash he gave me. It was pretty funny.

I am going to watch the first episode of every one of the shows mentioned in this thread in order to test this claim.

Tim and Eric is where comedy goes to die. Long, painful, torturous death that goes on and on for hours on end until comedy is pleading, "No, please, just let me die now! Please!" But no, Tim and Eric keep it around to burn it with red-hot glowing irons and bamboo shoots. It's like watching torture porn, but the viewer is the one being tortured.

Tim and Eric Terrible Show Great Job, Bob Eats Out the Mayor, and Xavier: The Renegade Buttplug are like black holes in otherwise decent to excellent programming. Superjail is right on the line, and I'm just waiting for it to get pulled into that black hole, too.

BESIDES THE FACT THAT TIM AND ERIC ISN'T EVEN FUCKING ANIMATED ...

Venture Bros., Robot Chicken, and Metalocalypse are the three best shows on there right now. Drinky Crow is the newest and most promising, I think. Squidbillies is funny, but it would suck without Unknown Hinson playing Early.

Aqua Teen is overstaying its welcome. Harvey Birdman was hilarious, but gone now. Sealab 2021 was good until the guy who played Murphy died, then it went to shit. Delocated isn't even animated, so fuck it. Lucy, Daughter of the Devil never did anything for me. Frisky Dingo doesn't do anything for me, either.

They gotta ease off the Family Guy. I'm seriously worn out of seeing it seventeen times a fucking night. Then again, it hasn't been very good these last couple years.

I love King of the Hill. Glad it's on at a time I can watch it. Never been a fan of Home Movies, but I'll watch it on occasion. Mission Hill deserved more episodes.

Even if you hate the rest of Tim & Eric - and I concede with Derek that they are wildly hit-or-miss, although so was Mr. Show... and Inland Empire - you must admit to finding at least several sketches completely hilarious. Their 'Universe' musings, "Not Jackie Chan", most of the the Steve Brule stuff, and the Vodka commericals they've done are among the funniest stuff I've seen in ages.

I love Tim and Eric and i find it mostly hit with almost no misses. I can watch any episode no matter how many times and still find it hilarious.

This is a good post. "Wildly hit-or-miss" is a good way to describe them. When they hit, however, it is absolute comedic gold. In addition to your list I would add "The Pig Man" and everything with Tommy Wiseau, the Mancierge with Fred Willard, 'Cinco Boy' commercials, and especially Tairy Greene's acting seminar, just out of what limited things I've seen.

Heh. Robot Chicken is just as hit or miss as Tim and Eric. And Frisky Diego is hilarious, but I doubt there will be another season. I'm happy that they added the good and underrated King of the Hill to the lineup.

PS: Its a damn shame that there may not be a third season of The Boondocks. Hearing what Uncle Ruckus would have to say about Obama getting elected alone makes me desire it more than anything else. But I've heard that plans for it plus negotiations with the show's creators seem to be following through. I hope that's wrong, though.

I can not say anything positive about Tim and Eric, I really hate that show. I don't understand its popularity and I don't understand how the hell they get some of the people they get on the show. But, whatever, I just change the channel and rant on the Internet.

Robot Chicken? Hit or miss? You're on crack.

I really enjoyed Moral Orel, too. It got really dark, there, closer to the end of the series. There were a few episodes that really surprised me with how dark they went. I love that shit.

How the hell did Xavier get a second season? Honestly, I've never met anybody who finds that show funny. Not even on the Internet!

I like that they picked up Look Around You and Garth Marenghi, although neither of them belong on Adult Swim.

Oh, I think The Boondocks is pretty funny, too.

A lot of their original content takes a while for me to like. But I've grown to love to most of their shows now. The only show I've never liked is Squidbillies. Just ugly animation. I don't really "get" Drinky Crow either, although I like how they use the old style of novel illustrations for their animation. A lot of the gore across many of the shows strikes me as often done for the sake of itself.

Some of the shows' style I can appreciate (like Superjail being modeled after all those drawings of battles you might have drawn in the 7th grade), but some just never stick.

The move to live action programming indicates they're more after certain types of humor, no matter the medium.

As a fan of anime, I'm disappointed they moved away from airing shows five times a week. And among their new anime, they really haven't had anything really good since Death Note. Seriously, what's going on with Moribito? The ratings must have been terrible, because they aired just ten episodes, moved it to last thing on the schedule and look to not have ordered more. It's too bad because it was essentially a serialized Princess Mononoke. Bleach I don't understand why I keep watching. It feels aimed at 12-year olds. Code Geass is alright I suppose. The main character is a bit of a sociopath.
    Out of 4 stars:
    The Guest: ***1/2
    Furious 7: ***
The Tale of Princess Kaguya: ***
    It Follows: ***1/2

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Was thinking today, huh, I'd really like some children's hospital, I wonder when the next season is and come to find out Rob Corddry cancelled the show himself a week or so after the last episode of the season aired. Boo.
