Interesting to see this as your top Keaton. Don't think I've ever heard anyone rave about it before.

Also, now I'm really wondering why and how I got it into my head that you were ever a hardcore Sorkin & Fincher fan.
I dislike Sorkin probably about as much as anyone on this site. Fincher is fine most of the time.

I was really, really surprised by how much I enjoyed it. In terms of construction, in terms of setup and payoff, with Keaton applying every single thing he learns doing the movie in his rescue of his ladyfriend at the end. It's slight, and it's not as ambitious as The General, but I thought that film had more dead time in between the wow-moments, while College was consistently entertaining.

It's mostly negligible, since both are fantastic, and The General would lead my next batch of favorites.

I'd never even heard of this one til now... and it stars Chantal Akerman, Jacques Doillon, Lou Castel and Anne Wiazemsky!? Might watch L'Enfant Secret on YT today.

Like Raiders, I've seen bits of the Mekas and I'm sure I wouldn't dispute it's #1 spot when I find time to properly absorb the whole thing. Maybe on my deathbed.

And don't forget Mireille Perrier and Garrel himself.

Oh yeah, that one rocks, too, it was my favorite at one point...let me know what you think when you see it!

All four Garrels I've seen have been great - in order of greatness: Le Revelateur, Regular Lovers, I Can No Longer Hear the Guitar, Emergency Kisses.

Sidenote: he's a dead ringer for my dad (alas, I'm not a dead ringer for Louis Garrel).

I watched this not too long ago and it holds up surprisingly well. It's easily on par with Airplane! at the very least.

Post-60s Godard, lesser Bresson, Trust, Petra von Kant, Design for Living, Devi!! We're going to get along just fine.

I'd also like to point out that Chinese Roulette is on the list just to remind KF of its existence.

I personally hate Palindromes, but I sorta get Solondz love even if nothing since Storytelling has worked for me.

I was just thinking that I haven't made a top 100 list for ages, not since the days when I visited Match-Cut regularly. Then I did a search on Google to see if I could dredge up my last top 100 and, roundabout, here I am. It did take a while to figure out what my last username and password were, but success.

Balmakboor?? Baldwin, Makavejev, Boorman I believe. Boy have I ever changed. Good to see some familiar names still posting here though.

This 5 year old list is hilarious. I can't believe how far I've evolved by posting/reading here. Maybe MC isn't so bad after-all.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

My list has hardly changed at all since I posted it. I've added 17 titles, only two of which are in the top 50. And it's been so long since I've seen most of those movies. Maybe I should start a new list from scratch, featuring only movies I've actually seen in the last five years. That would give me an excuse to actually watch some of those movies that are, in theory, my favorite movies.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?
