First, the whole Gremlin thing as a whole is a problem for me. The rules are a big part of this bother. Even as a kid I never really enjoyed the films. Yes, the second film makes fun itself. Yes, Dante throws in a heavy dose of "relevant" satire. But for me the satire is too over-the-top, the Gremlins just aren't funny and they definitely lost any scariness they might have had in the first film.

The bigger problem to me is that Dante's best film is underseen around these parts. Child versions of Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix plus aliens!!

I should also mention that I love both Amazon Women on the Moon and "Eerie, Indiana" which he apparently had a hand in making both.

It was really kind of sick how often I watched "Explorers" as a kid.

I know I saw Gremlins and The 'burbs when I was young, but don't think I could rate them. I remember being scared by both.

Please pack up and vacate the premises.

    Or, you know, explain yourself.

It was a really half-baked sequel that wasn't near as entertaining or inspired as the original. I watched it a few months ago back to back with the first one, and I didn't enjoy it much at all, especially in comparison.

Half-baked? Arguable, but also the point. Wasn't inspired? In comparison to the story and thrills of Gremlins, more imagination and wit goes into a single joke in Gremlins 2.

See them backwards? I don't know. It doesn't make any sense.

Watched The Howling, and that's not good at all. Edited in with a 4.

Yeah, The Howling is pretty bad. But then, I didn't like an American Werewolf in London either. In fact, I can't even think of a good werewolf movie.

If I ever come across Matinee or Explorers I will have to check those out. I'm surprised that Small Soldiers scored so high.
