    Martin Scorsese

With the exception of his musical documentaries and Boxcar Bertha, I have finished up Marty's filmography by dedicating these past few months of my Netflix queue directly in his favor.

Considering the old consensus thread is gone from Match Cut's old site, we can use this thread to discuss and rate his works.

Most underrated film is Cape Fear.

    Most overrated film is Casino.

I think Scorsese is the only director that has tackled every available genre except for science-fiction.

    The Departed - 7.0

I have now owned a copy of The Last Temptation of Christ for about five years and still haven't watched it.

Robert Altman might have tackled just as many. Hawks up there too... and both did sci-fi.

What would his Western be? Spielberg and Kubrick are two other directors that are close to hitting every genre.

Also, don't forget his impressive short on New York Stories.

You should really watch his Personal Journey and Voyage to Italy. They are great for film buffs. Any commentary by Scorsese is worth listening to.

    Most Overrated: Age of Innocence
Most Underrated: After Hours (just was watching this the other day, still top-notch) and Bringing Out the Dead (although it has a few flaws)

Haven't seen that "What's A Nice Girl Like You..." or his documentary on the Statue of Liberty. But I have seen Michael Jackson's "Bad"

Ebert has a new book that is just Scorsese. It'll be on my wishlist for Christmas.

I submit that New York, New York is maybe the best musical ever made. Thoughts? Hollywood musical, at least, if there is any other kind.
