The length isn't the issue. I wasn't really available this weekend, especially not for a 45 minute drive and then a 4 hour plus film. It's a one-week only engagement.Quoting Boner M (view post)
If they follow up with the two separate films, I will likely see both in the same trip.

I, um, once saw the extended versions of LOTR back to back at a 12-hour screening.
*Will use that to brag forever*
Movie Theater DiaryQuoting Donald Glover
Well, it was okay. But I was reminded of a lot of movies that were so much better.
And like The Wrestler, it seemed largely devoid of style. I like Soderbergh when he's stylish. Did he feel the material was too "important" for style?
For those who've seen it, is the film David Leanish? We're in need of some quality character epics.
Oh yeah? Well, I watched Bondarchuk's War and Peace all in one day!Quoting number8 (view post)

I'm kind of curious about how that can be used to brag.Quoting number8 (view post)
I don't generally brag by saying things like "This one Sunday, I literally spent 14 hours in my underwear playing Harvest Moon."
But the only difference I see between the statements are two hours.
Recently, I had five orgasms in one day. My penis was quite sore afterward.
And to answer your question, SirNewt, the film didn't remind me of David Lean at all.
And how many of those occurred whilst working on your script?Quoting Antoine (view post)

Damnit, film makers. Gimme some character epics that aren't as dopey as 'Glory' or 'The Mission'.
Too bad this (the four hour version) is only playing here tonight, tomorrow, and Thursday. I could spend four hours + commute time on a weekend but definitely when I have classes and this much work to do.
Guess I'll have to wait.
I haven't checked for myself yet, but I'm told this is playing on IFC on Demand as of this past Wednesday.

On Demand is a poor alternative for seeing film that is or will be available in theatres.
How is this different from watching a DVD? Except earlier.Quoting SirNewt (view post)

Yeah, I see this as a way to save money too. $14 for my girlfriend and I to see both films is better than $28+ to see it in the theater. Plus whether this film even reaches my city's one art house is in question.
Che will never come anywhere near me. So it's either rent it OnDemand or with Netflix when it's released on DVD. With those as my only options, I think OnDemand is a great alternative because I don't have to wait 6-8 months.Quoting SirNewt (view post)
Wow. That was much better, and much more interesting, than I had anticipated.
Considering the time, I'll have to delay further thoughts. But, for all its faults, that was a much more intriguing take on the story than I had expected.

February 6th it comes. Whoo!
You guys, Raiders was right all along! I really enjoyed these movies, although I think it was a good idea to take a break in between them. Loved Benicio's low-key performance and the way it conveys the experience of guerrilla combat. It's a compliment to say that Guevara seems largely ordinary throughout the journey, despite the effort of those around him to elevate him to the status of legend or supervillain. The violence is handled responsibly and not given a glamorous sheen. It took me a long time to get to these, but I'm glad I did.Quoting Raiders (view post)
