Random film related pet peeve - actors who pronounce a word or name differently than everyone else in the film for no apparent reason.

Case in point- Endgame. Nebula pronounces Thanos as "Tha-Noss", while everyone else says "Than-Ose".

    Other offenders:

Marlon Brando in Superman saying "Kryptin"

Roger Moore in The Spy Who Loved Me calling a character "Fek-ish", when every other character says "Fah-Kesh"

And don't even get me started on Roger Moore's pronunciation of "Saint John Smith" in A View to a Kill.

Great list overall. Have you seen Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms and Wolf Children? They're really good. I Wanna Eat Your Pancreas as well. There has been a bit of an anime film boom lately now that I think about it.
I haven't seen Wolf Children, but I'm excited to. I'm loving Hosoda so far. The other two I hadn't heard of, but I'll add them to the watchlist. If the movie I Wanna Eat Your Pancreas is as beguiling as its title I'm in for a good time.

I can totally get behind Princess Mononoke as a #1. It's a movie I've loved for a long time, got knocked out of this top ten by all the new-to-me anime I've seen lately, but could foreseeably bump up again with a rewatch at some point.

Your comments on Totoro check out as well. I may have liked it as a kid (had I seen it), but I shrugged it off as a teen. Now that I'm older (and have some nieces) it registers on a whole different level. I rewatched it recently, and from the moment they laugh away their fear in the bath, and the soot gremlins float away, I pretty much cried the entire rest of the movie.

I've never seen the movie, but if the character's English, it should probably be "Sinjin."

It's more of a sweet romance, but it's really good.

Never get tired of that one.

I could see it. Maybe I need to rewatch it with the right audience.

Spider-Man Far From Home was very slight. Its greatest weaknesses unfortunately lie in everything superhero-y, with Mysterio being the weakest link. Jake Gyllenhaal does his best with a very bland and ultimately dumb villain. When the movie pretty much stops at multiple points for info dumps lasting upwards of 5 minutes, it feels like chunks were written by different people and mashed together.

The best parts are all of the teen comedy bits. Which feels weird to say about a Spider-Man movie.

What was with Fury's comment about Captain Marvel? Did I miss something obvious?

Meg you know we have threads for specific movie discussion right? You might get a bigger response if you put your thoughts in there?

From what I recall, he mentions she's "Off World".

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Yeah I know but I've just been posting whatever I watch in here.

And no, when Parker mentions Captain Marvel, Fury very angrily responds "do NOT invoke her name."

    Wut?

But I mean, we are talking an alien with a heavy Australian accent and a lisp so...whatever, I guess?

I wouldn't blame the actors. Maybe the director, script girl, or continuity man?

In the case of Brando, I imagine it was more like that's just the way he said the word and no one was going to correct him.

So was this also meant to be the explanation why Fury was randomly just MIA in both Infinity War and Endgame?
