    Late Night TV Discussion Thread

Craig Ferguson's in reruns this week, which makes me sad.

John McCain did okay on Letterman, but it just underscored the absurdity of his unwillingness to subject himself or his running mate to questions. I'm interested to see how Letterman treats the rest of the campaign.

Good God! Did you see Richard Lewis on the October 15th Daily Show? He just screamed the entire time. It was amazing!

I'm surprised McCain went back on Letterman.

This was actually one of the more bizarre things I've ever seen on TV.
Wishful thinking, perhaps; but that is just another possible definition of the featherless biped.

Richard Lewis was pretty crazy on the Daily Show. I don't really know what was up with that.

I looked into his soul and figured out what was up with it. But I'm not telling.

Andy Richter is the announcer of Conan's Tonight Show!!!!

He's pretty much going to play the Joel Godard role.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Crazy! I never watched Conan back in the Richter days, but my friends constantly tell me how it was pretty much the greatest.

Kinda bummed that I missed Conan's last Late Night week.

    Sweetness.

I love that this thread's title is misspelled. It just amuses me.

And yeah Sycophant I too missed Conan's last Late Night broadcast. I did however catch the episode where he mocked Obama's inauguration speech. Pretty funny stuff.

That's too bad. The last week was pretty much godly. They showed so many clips I haven't seen before, like Conan hanging out at Hunter S. Thompson's estate, shooting machine guns drunk at Hunter's books. It's insane. Then they did a bit saying goodbye to Masturbating Bear, since the FCC wouldn't allow him on Tonight Show.

Also, Richter showed up at the last show and it was really, really sweet.

I have watched 3 of these tonight. A fantastic reminder as to how good his show is at its best.

    So good.

Especially all the racist vitriol in reaction to it.

One of the best episodes of the season - not a high bar to meet, but often really funny. One of the few where it's quicker to list the sketches that didn't work.

Agreed. "What have you become?" is probably the best game show sketch they've had in a long time. Even better than "Dylan McDermott or Dermott Multoney?"

Yeah, I really liked how that built on itself, with the sad music, and Bryant dragging Waltz into the shaming.

SNL wasn't that good last night - Kevin Hart brought the energy, but the sketches didn't live up to it.

But this commercial is fantastic. It looks exactly like those Nickelodeon commercials from the early nineties, and the joke is a good one that doesn't wear out its welcome.

Completely agree. That was probably my favourite bit since it's the sort of thing that parodies something so specific, and yet seems to get the best response because of how well it commits to it. Definitely a weak episode, but I was surprised at just how short lot of the sketches were. Though as much as that should imply that they've realized the criticisms that not everything needs to be seven to eight minutes, those leaner spoofs (like the Walking Dead, Steve Harvey, and Shark Tank ones) still didn't have much to them.

I actually like Hart a lot, but he just didn't have much to really dig in to. Christoph and Louie still win the season thus far.

Also, it's definitely weird to do a spoiler for SNL, but [
