    Ban me now!

A thread to thank our tireless moderators in their neverending effort to excise all the wow gold/runescape spammers. I almost started this thread earlier to post our latest spammer's name because it was pretty evident what he was (he had wow gold something-or-other in his sig).

So, if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck: it's a duck. Add suspicious new posters here so hopefully our mods can ban them before they flood the forum.

    Just an idea.

Qra2y, I believe, who's been a long time coming. io505, too. Those guys are always disturbing the tranquility of the board with noxious, fruitless dialogues and basically just bugging everybody.

Watch out for MadMan_731 and the other 729 MadMan's. They're nothing but trouble. I'm the original and far superior model.

It's weird...080907k is trying to get on this board as well. He's been trying to get on the Velvet for over a month now.

I think either W* or I need mod powers so we can control this plague while the rest of you guys sleep.

    *sigh*

Always a great way to start the morning. Did I miss anything?

Also, that Niechititty guy never registered, but was allowed to post. Any idea how that happened, or how to stop it Raiders? I couldn't click on the member name in any of his posts, and I couldn't ban him because he didn't show up as a registered user. That could be a big problem down the road.

They were all registered. I deleted their accounts. I thought I had gotten all of his posts. Sorry.

I have set up manual moderation of new users. This means all people who register will need to be approved by a moderator (maybe just by me... not sure of the vBulletin delegation of power here) before being able to post.

If that doesn't work or becomes too much, I will likely have to simply stop allowing new registration. I don't want to since obviously I am hoping that we will continue to get new users who contribute to the forum in a uh, positive manner. But, I may not have much choice.

    Ah. That makes more sense.

As for mod or admin approval for new users, I'm all for it. It'll certainly be less work than cleaning up the forum twice a week. Great idea. I hope it works.

EDIT: I think it's just you and not the mods who can authorize new users. I tried clicking on the spammer that just registered at the bottom of the page, and it's telling me I don't have authority to do that.

Match Cut gets new users that don't try to get us to play World of Warcraft?
