The 25 "Meh"est Things Ever: A Short List That You Can Look At Or Not

That's right, here's a list of 25 things that aren't great or bad. Anyone can do a list talking about things people love or hate. Try doing a list about things no one cares about. Here's a list of 25 things that just are. Why not 100? I'm way too lazy for that.

    Shoe Laces

Sure they are useful, but that's about it. Most people don't even give them a second thought. There was a time in the 80's when people tried to make them into a fashion statement, but it just didn't work. Tie them and get on with your life.

If only the cotton-tops hadn't laid claim to velcro shoes. I just don't feel good about wearing them without the accompanying Members Only jacket and wool slacks.

I've outsmarted the little buggers. I never untie the shoelaces and instead just slide my feet into the shoes and do a little jig to get the feet nice and snug. I save something like a quarter second with this practice. Where's my Nobel prize, I ask...

You and I both good sir. Also to ensure that I don't have to tie a pair of shoes more than once, I employ the "double-knot". Such a time saver.

    The Hose

A necessity for watering things in the yard to be sure. But how much time do you spend picking out a new hose. If the old green one breaks, you get a new green one. Maybe you get crazy and go with a yellow one.

I'm also firmly in the 'slide my previously tied shoes on and off and only bother with the laces when they some undone' camp.

Extending the time between ties with a double knot hadn't actually occurred to me.

I learned the hard way that it's not just a matter of grabbing the green one. The hose I purchased is paper thin and is constantly kinking while I'm trying to wash the car/water the lawn. It pisses me off like nothing else.

Is that one of the things that keeps our community together? That we tie our shoes once and securely and then fugheddaboudit? 'Cause I try to keep my shoe-tying to a minimum. Somehow, it makes me feel like a child sometimes, but I like saving the time, and I've gotten better over the years, so I don't destroy the mouth of the shoe anymore.

I untie my shoes every time I take them off, and I tie them every time I put them back on. I much prefer my shoes to be firmly snug, as if they were an extension of my feet. Shoelaces are essential to achieve this! But to each their own.

George and Susan sit either side of a table, with coffee. There's a definite
lack of sparkling conversation. George forces a smile at Susan. There's a
long pause, broken only by Susan sighing. George finally thinks of something
    to say.

GEORGE: I, uh, oh, broke a shoelace today.

SUSAN: Oh, I can get you shoelaces tomorrow.

    GEORGE: Okay.

    SUSAN: So, what colour?

    GEORGE: Brown.

Susan nods her comprehension, as George muses for a moment.

    GEORGE: Maybe black.

    SUSAN: Mmm.

The waitress walks by the table with the coffee pot.

    WAITRESS: More coffee?

GEORGE: (urgent) No! Check! (quieter) Please.

    The Word "Fricking"

Look, if you want to curse just curse. Calling someone a "frickin' idiot" really doesn't pack the same punch. Sure it's somewhat more expressive, but really what does it accomplish? Not much. Oh well, what the heck.

But then we wouldn't know how angry people were on shows like Buffy or South Park.

I prefer to use the word "freaking" anyway.

Frakkin' is by far the best phrase. It is actually way better than the curse word itself.

True, but remember this is the list of the most "meh". And "frickin" is very "meh".

    Godfather 3

It's by no means as good as the first two. However, it's not as terrible as people make it out to be. It could be better and it could be worse. In short it's very meh.

    Eh, that's not "Meh."
