I saw this today on a whim, and it's one of the most flat-out fun films I've seen in a while. Highly recommended.

Hmm. Didn't know this was a documentary. This was on at the film festival, I saw the poster and assumed it was some lame Aussie battler film or something and gave it no thought.

Quentin Tarantino should stop speaking forever btw.

Absolutely. But this looks like a lot of fun, despite his presence.

Tarantino's presence isn't all that bothersome; the film's so frenetically paced that he blends in nicely, and he even sold me on checking out a few titles I hadn't heard of before. Long Weekend looks especially cool.

I love it when QT talks about movies. The dude is passionate, and it is totally contagious. He's hipped me on to dozens of awesome flicks.

This looks like a lot of fun.

He says that cars in Aussie movies make him want to jerk off. When I hear that, I'm more afraid of catching herpes than enthusiasm.

However, the movie does look like fun.

Despite hearing Tarantino use the phrase 'genre films' in the first ten seconds of the trailer, this looks like a good time.

I'm so unhip that I didn't even know it's hip to bash QT. I just don't like his movies, don't care for his masturbatory brand of enthusiasm, and find his manner generally irritating.

If there's the slight moment where QT calms down and talks film, it's as interesting as it gets. I wish I could be that excited talking about movies day after day.

QT sounds like a lot of people do on this message board and others, like a person who is genuinely excited about cinema, and talks at length about it, and who has not become jaded from working within the industry. He has unbridled passion about his craft - this is something I greatly admire from any artist. He reminds me a lot of Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips in that I imagine they both wake up every morning totally excited about what they are doing, and they both seem to love to tell other people about the things that excite them. This is how I live my life, and so I connect with them on a very personal level.

I hope that this amount of pure passion, enthusiasm, and excitement about the things I love never irritates me. If it does, then I think it will be time to switch hobbies.

Yeah, Davis is right. If QT posted on Match Cut, he would fit right in and probably put all of us to shame with his movie knowledge and passion. He's not really that cynical as he tends to love pretty much everything he sees, but I never see his films being masturbatory.

I think it boils down to good ole' fashion jealousy of the man.

I don't think I'd have a problem with him if he posted on Match-cut, his voice and manneurisms is what is REALLY annoying.

This looks like a damn good film, I haven't seen a single Aussie trash/exploitation/whatever film, and I think this might be a good introduction. LESBIANS!

I hate arguments like this, because you could put it forward for EVERY SINGLE TIME someone criticises a celebrity. It's completely meaningless.

I think we're mistaking Tarantino for Harry Knowles.

    No I don't.

"you" = impersonal pronoun, used to refer to a hypothetical person or group of people.

Anyway, I don't really care one way or the other about Tarantino's public persona. It's easy enough to avoid if you dislike it. But it's not difficult to see how people could be annoyed by his mannerisms and the sense that, as enthusiastic as he is about the movies, a lot of the time he seems to be more interested in showing himself off, and to pin this on jealousy seems disingenuous.

I have absolutely nothing against his passion, enthusiasm, or excitement, nor did I suggest that I had anything against them. I'm just of the opinion that unless you're talking about porn, saying that a movie makes you want to jerk off isn't a relevant expression of enthusiasm.

And I cannot imagine any reason why I or any one else who finds Tarantino irritating would be jealous of him. What's there to be jealous about?

I dunno, if I made a film and someone told me it was so good he jerked off to it, I'd be pretty fucking proud of myself.

I know at least a few people here have related a film/trailer to sexual gratification. It definitely gets the point across.
