    Just D/L'ed it.

It's pretty good. Definitely better than "With Teeth", but not near the brilliance of "Year Zero".

He needs to stop recycling the same sound over and over. He often finds new sounds which he then uses for a few albums afterwards. Some neat new sounds on "Year Zero" are just sounding boring and repetitive here on "The Slip".

I have to say it: Dig!!! Lazarus, Dig!!! is one of the best albums of the past few years. Great from start to finish. Old fart rock at its best.

Thanks for the link, I just snagged it, I'm of the exact same opinion Megladon8, minus the having listened to the album part, just the whole how he's been up to this point.

Anyone think the new Portishead album sounds remarkably similar to the Silver Apples at certain points? 'Specially "We Carry On."
Wishful thinking, perhaps; but that is just another possible definition of the featherless biped.

Yup, very much so. This is not a bad thing in my estimation.

Nas' Illmatic: great hip hop album? or greatest?

I'm not huge into hip-hop, but when I listened to this album, it was kind of a revelation. I've never heard before or since such emotive expression in rap.

I'll go with great. I think there are a few better albums, but not many.

Yeah, despite the overall quality of Illmatic, I seem to have a hard ever working straight through the album, as the middle tracks (re: 5 and 6) seem to lack some of the energy that's contained in the bookends to the album.

No one else here like Atmosphere?

Seems strange no one's talking about their latest album, since MatchCut is where I heard of them first.

    Anyways, I'm really enjoying it.

    Some really cool beats.

My dad used to play it on road trips when I was a young'un. I didn't like it much then, but perhaps things would be different now.

I realize I'm about a year late with this, but I bought Neon Bible by The Arcade Fire.

I don't know if I get all the love. They can certainly write some good songs with good hooks, but it's a little too overly theatrical for me. Everything is very "dramatic". Also, they need to cut the reliance on synths in half, at least.

It's only been one listen, so I might warm up to it.

Do you already have Funeral? It's a better album, though I think you'll definitely warm up to Neon Bible.

This is the first album of theirs I bought.

I really can't stand all the synths. I hope I get over it.

You really should have gone with Funeral. It's a much better CD, in fact it's one of my favorites. If you don't warm up to Neon Bible, don't let that discourage you from at least checking out Funeral at some point.

    A'ight. Thanks.

Funny thing is, I really like Intervention, which is all types of theatrical and synth'ed out. I guess if the song is good enough it doesn't matter.
