Director Justin Lin doesn’t have the love of design that made the 2001 The Fast and the Furious a deliriously beautiful noir.

I just went to the theater and the parking lot was packed. I saw Adventureland which had maybe 20 people. I assumed a lot of people must've been at Fast and Furious.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

First one is still the best; a great little B-movie. Never bothered with the second one.

This one is about on par with the last one. More of a direct sequel to the first. Certainly better action than that one though. I can barely remember anything from that one. However, the decision to go all special effects extravaganza here doesn't add anything either.

Grindhouse came out first weekend of April, too.

Just thinking about watching this film fills me with boredom sensations. But I guess this pulls in the teens who practically live in the mall.

I know!!! I remember hanging out at one of my friends houses a few years ago and he popped in F&F and one of my other friends and I were like "holy crap, this is the exact same plot as Point Break."

Yeah, I think most reviews mentioned that fact too when it came out.

What I love is how they even recreated the dynamic in the leads. Walker's performance was as wooden and bland as Reeves, and Diesel's was as brotherly charismatic as Swayze.

Also, there's a Chinese movie called Legend of Speed that I saw on video just a couple of months before The Fast & The Furious came out and there are a ton of similarities, most glaringly the handicapped mechanic building a secret weapon car. I was convinced that they saw these two movies and combined them.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

    I work at a 17-screen movie theater.

Fast and Furious was originally planned to be shown in three rooms, but on Friday night (and apparently Friday night only), it was shown in three more rooms to accomodate the huge PM turn out. As a matter of fact, the movie was set to play in three rooms at the same time. However, this did not solve the problem of customers complaining about the lack of available seats.

I'm sure the ushers had a hell of a time cleaning up each theater. The janitors, who usually start cleaning the place at 2 in the morning, were still cleaning up 7 hours later.

Also, the day before, we showed a midnight screening. I worked box-office from 12:30 to 5:30, and by 5:30, seventy-plus tickets had been sold. But here's the really surprising part: the movie was shown in two different theaters.

Yeah, with these movies it's strictly the law of diminishing returns for me.

    1: **½
    2: *
    3:
4: will know tonight, but expect mild entertainment, like part 3.

EDIT: Just realized, not "strictly" for 3 was more fun than 2, but still sorta.

That was a Fast and Furious movie. Right up there with previous three. Fun, but nothing to get wound up about.

I like the two different motives between Dom and Brian. Had a different feel from the first movie.

    1. Wasn't expecting; [
    ]

    2. Glad they finally put a fucking Sti in these movies. Made good use of it too.

    3. I still enjoy watching the first movie the most. The characters are more likable. In this movie we have three of the same characters, but all they do is conflict with either the enemies, or annoying FBI agents. Mia and Brian's love interest

    4. The opening was way lamer than I was expecting.

    5. The finale was worse.

Were you also reminded of Pod racing's shittier cousin? I was for some reason. Sans the Bha-bha-bha-bha-bha sounds of course.

Fast and the Furious Franchise Discussion

Transitioning from street racing to heist action movies...

Has there ever been a franchise to move this fast to 6 movies that wasn't horror?

    It's pretty impressive.

Watch it turn into a sci-fi film by the 9th installment.

They thought they'd killed The Rock once and for all, but after the government perfects an experimental surgery on him, he's back on their tail! The Fast Nine team will have to contend with a new old enemy. The mind of a federal agent... in the body of a car!

No, they don't gain four more members at the end of the film to form Fast Nine.
