My main reason for seeing this is Michael Sheen.

Michael Sheen is my main reason for seeing anything that Michael Sheen is in.

Except this movie. That'd be Daft Punk. Sheen a close second.

I think we can all agree though, the poster still kicks all kinds of ass.

There's something really off about CGI Jeff Bridges.

Bulging cheeks, maybe? Or maybe it's just the damn orange lighting.

He looks cuddly. There's no other way to describe it. You just wanna pinch those puffy cheeks and go "cuddy cuddy cuddy cuddy. Yes, who's a good boy, who's a good boy eh?"

Well it is supposed to be his son, yes? So I'm okay with him looking a little different.

What? No. His son is played by Garret Hedlund.

Although, actually, the second Clu was made when Flynn returned several years after the first Tron. So it makes sense that they look different.

If it were just confined to the game, that would be fine, I could put it into my head as an "avatar" that isn't quite as detailed as it should be. But it's just so weird to see the CG Bridges tucking the young Garrett Hedlund into bed.

It's the cheeks, the jaw, the eyebrows, the generall puffiness of his face, and the unpexpressive eyes tucked so deeply into all of it. And once it's all in motion, the movements just don't seem to move or react fast enough to come across as an actual human personality (or even a well-done, falsely animated one, for that matter).

Hopefully it's still being rendered and refined and the footage looking the way it does in the trailers is a result of it being released months before the locking of the picture.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:

    Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
    Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
    Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
    Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
    What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
    Diva (Beineix, 1981)
    Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
    The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
    Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
    Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)

Watching the trailer for this before Inception got me so damn excited. I had a big fat grin on my face the whole time.

Different or not, it still just looks bad.

Poor CGI work there. Which is too bad because it's an effect that requires Avatar-levels of photorealism to really work.

I don't see how. It looks like a very typical CGI human face - plastic-y, doesn't move right, doesn't emote properly.

Unless they're cleaning it up a lot before the movie is actually released, I'm no impressed.

Indeed, but this really looks bad. I don't see that effect working.

Well it's a good thing that ILM and WETA doesn't trust your opinions during production considering they dedicate their lives doing this stuff.

It looks like he's in a video game.

    Oh wait....

They should've used clay, or maybe a puppet.

Actually, I'd kill to see a claymation Tron movie.
