It's fair to say that this season has been at least 2/3s disappointing.

Legit curious what people were expecting from this?
Given the final two seasons of the show sucked, and the last movie sucked, I didn't expect anything from this "reboot." There were even mumbles out of TCA last summer that the first episodes were bad. Then the actual reviews on the premiere weren't any good.
It was fun seeing Anderson and Duchovny again but beyond that much of the new season played like, "Shit, I got divorced and spent all my Californication money. Hey, everybody, how about we make ourselves a paycheck?"
Well, I got charming performances, gigantic plot holes, set ups that go nowhere, a bullshit and rushed cliffhanger ending, and a season that consists of a couple of really good episodes, a couple of terrible ones, and a string of mediocre executions of fun ideas. I wanted X-Files back the way it was and I guess they delivered.
More please.

Yeah the last movie was really underrated.
The severed arm perfectly acquitted itself, because of the simplicity of its wishes and its total lack of doubt.

Yay.
I haven't been able to bring myself to watch the last episode of the most recent series yet, but sure, yeayh.

I can't remember if I finished the series. I guess it doesn't matter?Quoting Sycophant (view post)
A lot of this feels like Fox trying to get on a Netflix-style nostalgia train, cf: Wet Hot American Summer, Arrested Development, Gilmore Girls, etc etc.

I'm definitely a yay. I was asking a question, since I know a lot of X-Files fans just want them to leave it alone.

Here's what I don't want out of the next season/project:
Duchovny and Anderson arbitrarily and strictly separated for half of every show.
Backdoor pilot bullshit.
Basically, I'm game though. X-Files is fun. Mulder is fun. Scully is fun.
I caught a bit of a season two episode on television recently. Seeing the blacks and blues of a nighttime scene set at Mulder's apartment felt…nourishing. I love that space and the exposition and calm-amidst-the-storm planning that was so often conducted there. There's one of the key casualties of the developments of S8 and 9. Plus, I know they shot the new episodes in Vancouver, but I don't remember the cinematography being comparable to the precise moodiness of the earlier episodes. I missed the arboreal atmosphere of those car rides down empty roads, too.
bwhahahaha
Renewed!

Didn't know it's trailer time already, but here it is! Looks like they're dropping the silliness and going back to thrills and conspiracies.
I'm ok with that.
