Man, Twitter's going crazy with all the people who've seen the prologue.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Also, the finished film will have about 50 minutes of IMAX footage. That's double the amount that was in TDK.

Nolan's dream of shooting an entire movie in IMAX is getting closer and closer.

If his next project is an original one, I'll bet that'll be the one.

According to aintitcool, the prologue is astonishing, but Bane's dialogue is a bit tough to discern.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I'm pretty pissed that they pulled the Kanata theatre from the list at the last minute.

That would have been my only chance to see the preview. No way am I driving 2+ hours for this.

Hopefully it'll get an online release...but I doubt it.

Or, Bane is the rising dark knight of this film, illustrating the moral/ideological gray area between an over-the-hill Batman and his younger, tougher villains, a metaphorical continuation of the last film's treatise on post-9/11 anxieties. Or not.

Given that all three mains in the previous film were "knights" who compromised their values to achieve their ends (making them all "dark"), this is a plausible reading.

    Nice poster.

Maybe that's just one of the hundreds of defective cowls they ordered in the first film.

Looks like the thing 8 wish he didn't read was gonna be made public anyway, or at least more obvious if it's coming straight from Nolan himself.

    Quote Quoting Nolan
"It will make a lot more sense to people when they see the film," Nolan said of the leap forward. "But it's not a great mystery—it's the jumping-off point for the film—but it's hard for me to articulate it. I think the mood at the beginning of the film will make a lot of sense. If I had to express it thematically, I think what we're saying is that for Batman and Commissioner Gordon, there's a big sacrifice, a big compromise, at the end of the The Dark Knight, and for that to mean something, that sacrifice has to work, and Gotham has to get better in a sense. They have to achieve something for the ending of that film—and the feeling at the end of that film—to have validity. Their sacrifice has to have meaning, and it takes time to establish that and to show that, and that's the primary reason we did that. It's a time period that is not so far ahead that we would have to do crazy makeup or anything—which I think would be distracting—but it gave them something to get their teeth into, particularly Christian in terms of [portraying] this guy who has been frozen in this moment in time with nowhere to go. He really has done an incredible job figuring out how to characterize that and express that."

"With Bane, the physicality is the thing," Nolan said. "With a good villain you need an archetype, you know, you need the extreme of some type of villainy. The Joker is obviously a particular archetype of diabolical, chaotic anarchy and has a devilish sense of humor. Bane, to me, is something we haven't dealt with in the films. We wanted to do something very different in this film. He's a primarily physical villain, he's a classic movie monster, in a way—but with a terrific brain. I think he's a fascinating character. I think people are going to get a kick out of what we've done with him."

8 - it's not the first time you've mentioned many of your favorite Bane moments being more humorous ones.

Is it because you don't like / don't take the character very seriously and so like him being treated kind of goofily?

Or were these just clever funny moments you liked with the character?

I know you hate the Knightfall story, but I don't really know your opinion on Bane.

No, not necessarily goofy. I just think he's boring as a villain. He's strong, he's a master strategist... that's it. There's not much about him that's interesting as a character aside from "He poses a threat to Batman." That's just boring to me.

His "burly man of honor" characterization is more engaging when it's contrasted with humor and affection. Gail Simone writes him as a big teddy bear who's extremely loyal to his friends and dangerous to his enemies and that contrast makes Bane really lovable and adorable.

Here are some "serious" Bane moments that I love.

    Going through withdrawal!

    Going on a date!

8, that last series of Bane moments you posted is from Secret Six, right? A friend of mine kept posting on Facebook about each issue. He was a big fan. I don't think I have ever seen him as distraught as when he read the last issue which apparently resolved very open-ended.
