George A. Romero's "...of the Dead"

Romero's latest film (currently finishing up production) takes place shortly after his last, Diary of the Dead, and looks at one or more minor characters from that film and where they end up.

    Trailer is on this page.

    Synopsis:

On an island off the coast of North America, local residents simultaneously fight a zombie epidemic while hoping for a cure to return their un-dead relatives back to their human state.
To be released later this year.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

Sounds like his original script for Day of the Dead.

Whatever the case, he has a lot to make up for, given how incompetent Diary of the Dead was. Hell, I'll take another Land of the Dead.

Diary of the Dead > Land of the Dead

Though I really, really wish he'd let someone else write for him. Hand his ideas over to a John Sayles or a David Mamet and he'd be off to a much better start.

    Anyway, here's a poster...

Is this really all he has to offer as a filmmaker anymore? He's like the Samuel L. Jackson of directors.

    That looks terrible.
    It doesn't deserve my title.

That one line of dialogue in Diary of the Dead was so brilliant, it deserves to be said again...

"It used to be us versus us. Now it's us versus them. Only they...are us."

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

This is getting ridiculous. I lost interest in his films a long time ago.

I would rep this post if I didn't think it was sarcastic.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

I will probably see this, considering I actually liked Diary of the Dead. I think if I actually like Land of the Dead I can officially consider myself a Romero fanboy (I'm pretty much there already anyways).

After two very small roles in Diary and Land Alan Van Sprang finally gets a bigger part.
