Sven's been meeting a lot of MatchCutters lately and just today he claimed the board is reasonable. I fear he's taking us over one by one. Be careful, that's all I'm saying.Quoting Spinal (view post)
I was going to meet Sven last year but ended up getting sick.
He moved JUST before I went back to NYC this year.
I think that's about as close to meeting a MatchCutter as I'll ever get. It makes me sad
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

Have fun!Quoting Spinal (view post)
He's a cool dude. We're like all BFF now. He's probably the best friend I've ever had. I can't imagine my life without him.

This is probably the single greatest thing I've seen all morning.
Oh man.
Sven has Scandinavian roots, so I've practically met him as well.

I wasn't able to make it all the way through that video, but this Cracked article about it was very funny.
...and the milk's in me.
And I guess SNL made a parody video.
EDIT: Whoops. I have one of those headaches that makes you foggily forget how to speak English.
...and the milk's in me.
I'm very seriously considering spending a year or so saving up several thousand dollars, and just going down to NYC in hopes of finding some kind of way to get a life going down there.
I'm getting desperate. I don't know how I will ever be able to become an American.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
I assume NYC because of Jen? Because there are way, way cheaper places if money is an issue.
If you want a visa, you could try going to school here. That would give you a few years.

Yes, NYC because of Jen.
And the cost of living somewhere else being lower is not the issue at all.
America really doesn't want Canadians becoming Americans.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
I'm pretty sure America doesn't want anyone becoming Americans at the moment.Quoting megladon8 (view post)

Yes but the attitude seems to be doubly so when it comes to Canadians. America thinks we're perfectly well off in Canada, so there's no reason why we should have to move there.
Which is true to a point. I understand the logic.
It just makes life especially hard for people in my situation.
Jen and I have been together for nearly 5 years now, and we're no closer to actually being together.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
You're right, most of the recent immigrants I know are refugees.
Pudie (from Icine) recently fled the other direction, moving to Canada to be with his girlfriend.
My dad came to America to be with my mom, but he has never shown any interest in becoming a citizen. He's been here 35 years, he has had two wives and five kids, mais il veut mourir un Français.
...and the milk's in me.
In college I lived a couple blocks away from a gas station with a surprisingly well-stocked convenience store attached. They also made ice cream, or something, so they had a drive-through.
It didn't take us long to figure out they would sell us absolutely anything through the drive-through that they carried. Fountain drinks, magazines, candy, AA batteries, decks of cards, Advil... they would run and get it and hand it to us.
Ten years later, I still think about how awesome that was.

How has your father never been tracked down and forced to leave?
I imagine that if I were to try to live in NYC illegally, it wouldn't be long before there was a knock at Jen's door, and I was forced to go back to Canada. And I imagine I'd never be allowed to return.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
Make her move to you? It's easier for an American to become a Canadian. Alternatively get married.Quoting megladon8 (view post)

He's not illegal. They keep renewing his work visa. Seriously, he'd just have to take a class and an oath and he'd be a citizen.Quoting megladon8 (view post)
