Whelp ... the EU fucked over the entire internet (again) ...

    https://www.theverge.com/2019/3/26/1...ight-directive

If you had asked me 20 years ago "Who's most likely to fuck up the web?" I would have bet on the U.S. government (or Microsoft) ... not Europe.

JFC what are these people doing?

I love that a decently large percentage of people have nigh-universally agreed that the way to denote sarcasm/mocking contempt in a sentence is to WrITe iT lIKe ThiS. And it came from a Spongebob meme.

This popped up on twitter and I am very confused. I had no idea Duke was running for office on an anti-me platform.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I absolutely hate this line of defense when responding to a piece of criticism in a movie/tv show/whatever: "What? You think X is unrealistic in a movie/show with Crazy A, Wild B and Zaaaany C!? Lol whatever." This is terrible reasoning. People trot this out all the time and without considering the context of the criticism. This happens in GoT circles quite a bit, as well as Marvel. Sometimes directorial choices or writing are just bad or stupid, and no amount of "lol what about giant ice dragons and zombies and wizard surgeons" is gonna fix it.

    Agreed times a million.

Fantastical elements don’t give the creative team a pass for shit writing.

Not to mention even the most out there universe has internal logic, and breaking it is a glaring flaw.

Sometimes I want to chuck all my devices into the ocean and go offline for the next year.

I actively resent this is no longer a practical way to live.

    Yes.

I’m glad a couple of my hunting vacations are in areas with next to no cell service. Being in the mountains for a few days was wonderful.

I took all social media apps off my phone shortly after the new year. I just got back from a week in Mexico with no access to facebook, twitter, the WWW, any of that.

    It was wonderful.

I pulled a week in Mexico in 2000 and barely made it out alive.

So what are we talking about, then?

Was it like a "lawyers, guns, and money" situation? Or more like a "I think that co-ed gave me the clap" sort of situation?

It was like a "gangs, strippers set to kill, prison escapees, buying weed out of bibles, come here American you got a pretty mouth" kind of situation.

Now I'm imagining a version of "After Hours" directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Jason Statham as Skitch.

    Then maybe a frachise?

    "Skitch"
"Skitch II: Player on the Playa"
"Skitch III: Strippers Set to Kill"
"Skitch: Return of the American Mouth"

Huatulco, my friend. The hidden gem. All the sun, non of the bros. Can't recommend it enough.

EDIT: TO CLARIFY, I WENT TO THE MEXICO WITH MEXICO CITY AND ACAPULCO ETC. (I only found out today that there were multiple Mexicos. Who knew?)

I forgot about the cops strip searching a local just for riding in a taxi with us (okay, he was buying us weed and threw it in the shrubs before we took off because he saw them coming.) Every day of the trip got more insane. Cab drivers sold my friend coke...I got a stray dog high on the beach at 1am and it took off barking after a local who then assumed it was our dog...

I didn't understand this part. You mean the dealer had it hidden inside a Bible? That's a nice touch.
