I have always preferred Spider-Man having organic web shooters.

I feel like without those there’s nothing particularly “spider-y” about him.

I agree. This is totally nitpicky silliness, but I've never understood why his spider grip works through his gloves and shoes and suit.

    Agreed.

I mean without the organic webshooters, he can clmb walls? Hardly spider-specific. He could just as easily be Cliffhanger.

I saw a meme recently that made me chortle. I can’t find it again, but it was something like...

“Imagine meeting someone who knows nothing of comic books or superheroes. Tell them about one character who is blind and uses echolocation to see, and then of a character who is a fearless adrenaline junkie with gadgets. Then tell them which one is Daredevil and which one is Batman.”

We had that conversation a while back when someone complained about the scene in Spider-man 2 when he tries to stop the train in the tracks. His suit would rip. And that's when we got into the Superman comparison.

If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

There's only one way to stop the arguments about Baby, It's Cold Outside.

By collectively agreeing that Santa Baby is worse.

We recently discovered that over the past decade, Star Tribune movie critic Colin Covert has written some film reviews using the same unique language of writers for other publications, without attribution.

Covert, a staff writer at the Star Tribune for more than 30 years, has resigned.

This matter came to editors’ attention in a recent email from a reader that said Covert in his 2009 review of the movie “Nine” had used a unique phrase from the late New Yorker film critic Pauline Kael. Editors confirmed the phrase -- “self-glorifying masochistic mush” -- was used by Kael in 1974.
I dunno why a vet critic would do this but OTOH, if you steal, steal from the best?

OTOOH, this dude also lifted material from Vulture and IndieWire so he's clearly delusional and needs help.

I wish Amazon accepted forms of payment other than credit card.

The only debt remaining in my life is credit card debt, and I want to eliminate using credit cards for anything except emergencies.

Don’t understand why you can’t use PayPal for Amazon purchases.

Amazon definitely accepts debit cards (I bought my Switch with one).

Fun fact: Visa and MasterCard require your credit card number, expiration date, and 3 digit security code to charge the card. They don't need your name, address, birth date, telephone number, email address, or (IRL) your signature.

So if an online retailer or service provide requires oodles of personal information "just because" ... you can falsify it and it won't matter.

In real life, you can sign any name on the receipt and it will be valid. Or draw a picture. Give em a little doodle. The credit card company doesn't care; the charge went through when you swiped.
