I always like it when they ask for 10 years experience in such and such a technology that's only been around for 4.

My boss shared an article with me from a couple years ago about the first movie trailer edited by a robot.
As an editor myself, I'm scared about the future.

The be all end all for me was when my niece in NYC applied to be a part time cashier at a McDonalds in Manhattan was told they were only accepting people with BA’s.
For part time.
At McDonalds.

Art won't be replaced by robots. But most low skilled jobs will be. Id fear the most if I were a truck driver.Quoting Ivan Drago (view post)
Days of on the job training are in the past. Learn a trade or get a degree is the future. Remember in the 70s when going to college was the new thing? Well in the 2020s its going to be grad school. Distinguish yourself over the competition. Better yourself in the process.
I have a weird idea that the future of this country will be mainly exporting art.
One day we'll all work for Disney.
Can't make a robot plumber!
But yeah, jobs not posting compensation always bug me.
If by this country, you mean China (where actors and technicians aren't unionized and where an increasingly large percentage of the audience lives), then yes.Quoting Skitch (view post)

I don't think there's an RT thread, but I gotta say:
The new "flat" design on RottenTomatoes.com is ugly as hell and somehow makes the site look more generic.
I wouldn't know. I stopped going there when RT killed the forums.Quoting Irish (view post)
Also the robots one day will rebel. Count on it. I am already Will Smith in I, Robot.

N'oreaster killed us last night. Will likely be a few days without power.
It’s insane what is happening in the Philippines right now.

When one letter makes all the difference: someone sends an inter-office email asking if Viacome is okay with someone raping a vulgar lyric.
Has anyone been to Meow Wolf in Santa Fe, New Mexico?
Cool, new type of experience. The "House of the Eternal Return" is a mix of a non-linear story, art, music, video games, animation, production design... All in one thing. It works for basically any age/demographic, and was an absolute blast. If anything, it was kind of packed, so trying to read and navigate through some of the story elements was tough. I could definitely see myself coming back multiple times, and curious how the Denver one will come out, as it sounds like it'll be a whole different installation.
Plowed the drive at 1500. Plowed the drive at 1700, then plowed the neighbors drive, then our drive again. Fuck. This. Shit.

Getting back into soccer again, and the pain is double. Conditioning sucks.
2 goals and 1 assist at least!
Total snow fall of about 20". Plowed multiple peoples drive ways. Pushed multiple cars. My knuckles feel like I've punched a brick wall. And its already started to melt, and its going to melt quick. Wonder how that's going to pan out....

That shit is crazy. I am glad there is no snow down here, although it snow rained on Sunday. Winter never seems to end.Quoting Scar (view post)

I got to experience the fun of driving through snow-rain in Northern Iowa and then through full-on blizzard in Minnesota on Saturday. That was about 150 miles of white knuckle driving, I gotta tell ya. And the funniest thing is, I've driven that stretch of road through much worse in my college days.

Crazy Fucker. (I would’ve done the same)Quoting bac0n (view post)
I remember driving that stretch of northern Iowa through freezing FOG. As soon as I crossed the border into Minnesota, the fog cleared and the sun came out. Same thing happened during a mammoth thunderstorm. It’s like there’s a weather switch at the border.

No shit. I am serious, right at the MN border, within a half mile even, the rain changed to snow. It's like welcome to Minnesota, here's your fucking white out.
