I posted at Icine for ages, but left because of personality conflicts. Overall a great group of posters.

I did Icine for the longest of time, and it was most active at the beginning of Match Cut if I remember right.

Hardly any movie talk, lots of random talk.
I think that's what makes MC so awesome.

We have people who know their movie stuff and know what they love. The Wats (Disney), the 8s (Battle Royale), The sycophants (Anime/Japanese film), the KFs (Akira), the Maxs (Matrix) the Raiders of the NewFound arks/the Bartys...the Megs (Superman) the Stay Pufts (anything Malick) [I dont mean to call out every MCer here]

The range of people here and their interests is the prefect blend to influence others. It's intimate, and We don't really deviate too much off the movie/books/TV topics. Sure we have an OT section and a Random thread, and sports stuff and an atheist thread, but it's not full of "Rate the poster above you DVD collection" or "Random Word Threads" and crap like that.

Looking back at my post history; I've definitely matured not just as a poster, but as the way I view cinema. And that's all because of the people who post here, their recommendations and insight into the art.

    Love this forum.

Crap. I had no idea icine died. I posted there for awhile, but it was as much of a community, friends thing as it was a movie/TV forum. Hadn't been there for years, but that still sucks hearing about.

There was another offshoot of RT with mostly Crit Discussion posters. It's pretty tight-knit and has survived. It was never a hotbed of activity, and has slowed down some.

So what your saying is...Match Cut won the king of the hill.

I liked all those posters over at Icine, but I never posted much because it always seemed like I missed whatever was being talked about.

KF gets the Akira? I need to post more.

What's the likelihood of a six-state California? Forbes said it could seriously happen.

He most certainly meant Kurosawa, not the anime. I haven't seen that since high school, something I should remedy soon.

Forbes is a trash brand. The possibility of that happening are exactly zero.

Since when is Icine dead? Why did it die?
I just now realized you post here after seeing this post show up in my notifications. Cool.

Also I wasn't listed by Duke. I'm the guy without a thing :P

It would be great if astor posted here yet I think she's too busy currently. That's why Icine ended, among other things.

Very unlikely. There's still two years before it would appear on the ballot, and voters aren't very much for it, and even were voters to like it, it would have to pass through Congress. I haven't studied it in depth, but the fact that one of the six states would literally be Silicon Valley, and that the chief advocate is a Silicon Valley venture capitalist, I'm thinking it's got little to do with improving the state at large and is mostly about maximizing the success of certain prosperous communities at the expense of more troubled rural areas. And, frankly, CA's infrastructural problems are such that somehow splitting the state into six different states, with six different sets of regulations, laws, tax codes, is downright absurd.

I'm mostly amused that the northern most state out of the six isn't called Northern California. Its called "Jefferson." The hell?

My phone was lost/stolen on Friday. Went in today to see what a phone costs without the discounts from upgrading or renewing your contract. Now I kind of want to throw up.

Yes, I just went through this. Except I went into a pool with my phone in my shorts' pocket. It hurt--the wallet and the ego.

That's why I have insurance and the ability to upgrade my phone after 6 months and not 2 years (or whatever it is now).

That's why I have a Rugby II so I don't have to continuously upgrade my phone.

There's a guy at work who is Crazy Joe Davola.
I'm not being dramatic, I just feel like I'm going to throw up my heart and my head is going to fly away like a bird.

"I have a hair on my tongue. Can't get it off. You know how much I hate that? Of course you do. You put it there. I know what you said about me, Seinfeld. I know you badmouthed me to the execs at NBC. Put the kibosh on my deal. Now I'm gonna put the kibosh on you. You know I've kiboshed before. And I will kibosh again."

Jerry's panic afterwards, as he repeats "kibosh" again and again, is a classic example of one of Larry David's ingenious comedic tendencies: seizing on a particularly funny word or phrase and compounding its absurdity through repetition.

While I'm glad you reminded me of this hilarious bit, I hope this person at work isn't creating a legitimately worrying or threatening situation.
