Day 2 in I Can't Get Mental Health Care: Some progress. I figured out how, theoretically, to get some visits authorized. However, I have to deal with a contractor that my insurance uses for mental health, and their website is BANANAS.

So I've gotten into some hot water at work having not taken the next step on a number of projects that I agreed to months ago. Lots of reasons for that but the majority issue is my debilitating tendency toward procrastination and my almost complete lack of self-motivation or follow-through. One of the people who is not happy about it said this to me yesterday: "Nobody likes to work with a gun to their head."

Metaphorically speaking, of course, am I the only one to whom this does not apply? That is how I prefer to work. As soon as any of these people told me to get my shit together, that's when I hit next-level efficiency. If they had told me earlier, it would have been done earlier. I just needed the deadline. But if you don't give me a deadline and just expect me to get it done at whatever pace I prefer, then I will find it nearly impossible to complete the task until it's due in 2 minutes.

Amber, I wouldn't say I prefer that method, but I don't mind it. Thing is, I don't think anyone prefers to manage people that way. At least at the professional level.

I have never experienced a job without constant deadlines. Without them would always seem to breed inefficiency and procrastination.

No. We have pretty good sex ed here in DK, so it would'nt have been necessary, but it would've been awkwaaaaaaard.
