Day 3 in Shanghai:
- The Chinese people aren't as bad as they're made out to be. Definitely reserved and individualistic, but not unfriendly. Just had a laugh about my lack of Mandarin with the guy from the mini-mart.
- Yes, I found the mini-mart.
- I did get lost in a mall for a wee bit.
- I never though I'd say this, but I love Starbucks. Only place I can speak English. Felt like saying "please don't put my order through yet, let's chat some more". I'm sure they would've.
- Found this place with Chinese fast-food. It's delicious and dirt cheap. Suck it, McD. It's
- First day of work tomorrow. Westerners! Hopefully I will find out soon if they decide to keep me on, as I can move out of this hostel then.
- My roommates are friendly enough, but this Chinese kid keeps playing this cheesy song in a loop while singing along to it, and this Japanese girl spent like an hour putting on various lotions last night. At 2AM. Her face mask is one of the scariest things I've ever seen.
- Oh, also this German girl moved into my room this morning. She woke me up saying "I was supposed to have this bed". Made me put on my contacts and everything to compare our keys. Finally I told her "well, that's awkward, unless you want to share". She did not reply to this. During all my travels, I have only made one German laugh, and officially he's Greek.
