That's not me. I wouldn't be caught dead in uniform without my hat and plume.
Anybody else hear a midi-file of Hang On Sloopy playing or is that just me?
Why do I get the sense you're wearing that hat right now, as you post to Match Cut? And always have? C'mon. Admit it. You're among friends.Quoting amberlita (view post)
Edit PS: I really wish I had more rep to give out today, amber.

Ok, yes, now that is me. A girl cannot live on hotel fetishes alone. Notice how there's no plume visible in that photo. They serve a dual purpose. Cosmetic and functional.

Grandma died last night; happened much faster than expected, but they morphined the hell out of her, and it happened while she slept. Wasn't sure what to do, since I was back in Los Angeles, three-thousand miles away. So I walked to a bar, had a Blue Moon and an Angry Orchard cider, walked back home, and passed out. My dad called a couple hours ago. He talked about how he held her hand as it grew cold, and how he used to walk to the grocery store with his mom when he was little.
I'm sorry for your loss, Damu.
My condolences, DaMU.
Losing is like fertilizer: it stinks for a while, then you get used to it. (Tony, Hibbing)
I just quoted number8 for one of my academic papers. I gave credit where credit was due.
Sure why not?

Sorry DaMU.
In other news, bambi lost part of his head yesterday. Him and his brother are currently hanging skinless and headless in the garage up on the hill.

I'm sorry to hear that she passed DaMU. My grandmother died at home on hospice as well about 10 years ago. It's never easy to lose a loved one, but it brought me and my family a lot of closure and peace as I think it does for many families, hopefully yours as well.
My grandmother is on hospice now, though she's in a home. She's suffering from Alzheimer's Disease as well as Leukemia (in remission) and a heart condition, and I haven't been able to see her in months because her confusion has manifested itself in the form of violent episodes on several occasions. For all intents and purposes, she has pretty much already passed in the minds of my kids. I'm going to try to visit her next weekend, but it will all depend on her emotional state.
I realize it isn't of any use to you now but I recommend using online storage services in the future if your workplace will allow it. I use both Google Drive and Dropbox religiously. Losing all of my important files (okay, so it's pictures of lolcats, so what?) is one of my greatest fears and I am paranoid about saving anything to a desktop, let alone a flash drive.Quoting amberlita (view post)
I'm sorry for your loss, DaMU. My grandmother passed in January of last year under similar circumstances. I can't say that it's gotten easier, just that we've gotten used to it.

I keep all of my stuff on two computers, a flash drive, a cloud and an SD card in my wallet. And because I'm an idiot, the one week that I didn't back up was the one where my hard drive crashed.Quoting Robby P (view post)
I religiously check my hard drive health. I don't do backups, because, frankly, I can't pay for that much storage just to be on the safe side. I do have my important stuff in several places, but I believe in prevention more than in backing up just in case.

...and the milk's in me.
Could someone please explain to me the virtue of fruit-on-the-bottom yogurt? Why, in a world with other alternatives, would someone choose it? It's the same price, but with more work and a greater chance of accidentally getting a mouthful of just syrup.
