    Happy Birthday!

Hard to imagine I started chatting with some of you at the age of 20.... and it's 16 years later......
    16 years ago I was 18. Whoa.

Heh, I'm thinking about Bilbo's speech:

"It*is far too short a time to live among such excellent and admirable hobbits. I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

Is every comedy site on the internet currently overrun with pics and videos of girls showing off their asses, or doing completely made up exercises in an attempt to grow their ass?

I used to frequent a half dozen or so comedy/meme sites, and I barely ever go on them anymore because I cannot escape this ass obsession.

I always loved that speech because it confused the people he gave it to.

Source from the edit I'm working on right now:

Washington Times. “Colored Fat Men Will Race at Church Benefit,” September 15, 1916.

    My word.

Reading "Black Like Me" and it's sad/wild that some of the passages from that book (early 1960s) apply just as much now as they did back then.

    it's been a roller coaster 24 hours:

Yesterday my wife accepted a job offer after 15+ months of unemployment.

Today there was a huge RIF (Reduction in Force) at work. LOTS of people I enjoy working with and count as friends lost their jobs today.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Glad you two are okay, but so sorry for the folks who have been let go.

Would not want to be the person delivering those messages.

I've been that person. Stick to the script like in Up in the Air and it'll be like ripping off a band-aid. It is tough.

And yeah, it was an incredible experience.

Feels like an Apple store, but wood paneling instead of the sterile white.

There's an attendant for every customer, and you're provided with an iPad to research and make your order, then they call you up when it's ready.

When I first walked in, I wondered how a store so small could afford to have that many staff. But in the 20 minutes I was there, more than $2000 went through their tills.

    Just wild.

I’m buying a box, wrapping it up, and throwing it in the annual Christmas dice game. Probably 2021, but that’ll just give the flavor time to bloom.

Ha. There are a lot of ‘what the fuck’ gifts in the dice game.
