This would be a baby winter in Michigan where I grew up. But the infrastructure here is just not built for it.

WTF. It's 60 degrees in Seattle DD?
Almost. It's been the mildest winter ever.

A little scary, as there is no snow, and a lot of our power is hyrdo.

It just keeps getting warmer and warmer here.

I had to mow my lawn this past weekend, and all of our trees and plants are blooming already. I usually don't have to mow my lawn until June. It never really died this year.

I was in St. Louis and KC today. Never got above 20 at either place. Ugh.

I sympathize for that Minnesota weather though. I'll be back in three weeks or so.

What was it, -20F or so windchill this morning?

Yesterday at 5pm, I was in Puerto Vallarta, 85 degrees, sunny. Yesterday at 9pm, I was in Minneapolis, -20F windchill, dark. Nothing like dropping a 100 degrees in 4 hours. These four bottles of tequila I brought home with me are not going to last long.

Oh, and Scar, let me guess, Cookie chose your new avatar, right?

Ah, Puerto Vallarta...where in 2000 I got my first tattoo, bought weed out of a bible, and had my credit card stolen. What a week!

So, the wedding was this weekend. I'm sure what I'm about to say is a "well, no shit Sherlock" type of comment, but...

...just a note to people who are going to be planning a wedding - be careful of the music you choose for the ceremony.

The groomsmen and I got our own processional, so I got to choose the music for that. I chose the 'Love Theme' from Cinema Paradiso. Appropo, right? Great piece of music from one of my favorite films and appropriate to the occasion. I was like "this is perfect!"

Unfortunately, I forgot to factor in how emotional the movie makes me, especially at the end. Factor the innate emotional heft of the occasion to the mix and I had trouble keeping it together long enough to make my way to the officiant.

It's something I never thought to even consider. Oops.

Congrats! And grooms who cry at their weddings are adorable. It's all good.

I dodged that bullet at my wedding. The song chosen for my first dance was an acoustic folk rendition of Super Freak.

(not that there was a bullet to dodge.)

    I rarely remember my dreams.

Last night I dreamt that a woman got pregnant with a Pac Man baby, and we had to wait to see which guy started to produce power pellets to determine who the father was.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I have a question about income inequality since it's a hot topic in the national conversation, and deservedly so. Everyone seems to agree that it's troubling and potentially dangerous for society. But is it inevitable? Here is a simple example:

Let's say Person A is ten times wealthier than Person B. They each make an investment in a large cap stock fund.

    Person A invests $100,000
    Person B invests $10,000

The value of the fund's shares go up 10% in a year, and both decide to sell.

    Person A now has $110,000
    Person B now has $11,000

Person A made $9,000 more than Person B, and as a result, their income disparity grew wider over the year.

Even if you tax Person A much more than Person B, Person A will still be net ahead, most likely.

Now, if Person B was really poor, living paycheck to paycheck, and had no discretionary money to invest, Person A would be even further ahead.

So how can income inequality be prevented? I realize this is a very dumbed-down example, so let me know if I'm missing anything here.

When you first started talking about income equality I thought you were going to go down the gender income equality route.

But instead you're just talking about it across the board like there's even something to fix. Therefor I see no problem with the above example.

You don't think there's a problem with income inequality?

I don't think there should be any billionaires in America if they're not going to build a robot suit or dress up like a bat.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Benny illustrated it better than I ever could.

When the rich get significant tax breaks, and 1% of the population have more wealth than the bottom 90%, when the bottom 80% of the population has less than 7% of the wealth, I do not know how anyone can say there isn't a problem.
