I feel bad that I've pretty much disconnected from the forum in the last year. Then again, 2014 was a pretty transformative year for me. I finally started taking care of myself because I was getting...
Just popped in from self-imposed exile to say this was real bad.
Self-inflicted because I like to see all the films nominated for Best Picture.
Orci is out according to Variety. Deadline says Edgar Wright is on a short list to replace him.
Interesting that this follows DC's recent mega-announcement.
I've long been curious about Black Panther. Very glad that it's finally happening!
Who would everyone like to see direct these...
Gone Girl now makes two Fincher films in a row where I've looked forward to his movies, enjoyed them while watching them and then nearly forgot about them a week later.
Based on what little I know of Civil War, I had kind of hoped that they'd avoid the story. Mostly because I just don't like the idea of our favorite characters fighting each other. We'll see.
So it looks like Rotten Tomatoes just deleted user blogs. There goes years of lists and ratings. Oh well.
Ha! Today was the first time I've actually watched the demo. Pretty darn good. And at least with the demo reel, I loved the look.
I laughed the hardest at the bird coughing up the bone.

I've always believed that when Tony Stark meets Trevor Slattery, RDJ is meeting himself. Heck, T.S. and T.S.
Oh man how I love that film. I should watch it again.
FX.
Nothing for this one yet?
The pilot directed by Del Toro was solid, but damn if this ain't just dopey in spots. They keep teasing that Kevin Durand is going to start kicking all sorts of backside,...

And my ranking of the Avengers Saga so far:
1. The Avengers: ****
2. The Winter Soldier: ****
3. Iron Man 3: ****
4. Captain America: ****
5. Iron Man: ****
6. Thor: ***1/2
7. Guardians of...
Really enjoyed this, but it took a little while to find its way. Can't put my finger on why, but the scene of everyone chasing Quill on Xandar I thought was kind of a haphazard way to introduce Groot...
Some day, someone is going to pair up Lucy's speech to her mother with montage footage from The Tree of Life.. and it may just work.
Damn. Lost my post. I'll just say for now that this was pretty darn great.
That armored car turret shot? Amazing. Probably will go down as one of my favorite shots of the year.
At the half way point:
1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier: ****
2. The Grand Budapest Hotel: ***1/2
3. The LEGO Movie: ***1/2
4. Edge of Tomorrow: ***1/2
5. Godzilla (2014): ***1/2

I found the speed of the aliens to be genuinely frightening.
Does make wonder why the allies were not taking advantage of what would be obvious air superiority. Seems like a lot of bunker busters...
Ha! This movie.
Weirdly, the beginning of the film kinda works. The script and Bay almost seem to go out of their way to establish Yeager ( ) as a generous and resourceful guy barely...
Nice!
This was a lot of fun. Maybe Cruise's best in a while.
This was delayed? When was it shot? If they needed the extra time for editing, it worked. Excellent pacing.
I think this was even less funny than Ted and I wasn't all that crazy about that film either. The trailer again had all the laughs and incorrectly gave you impression that the film would feature a...
I liked this. I think Neeson has had a nice second career doing B-movies about world weary men whose lives are turned upside down. Taken, Unknown. In The Grey, he gave such an incredible...
I liked Charlie Cox's work in Boardwalk Empire. Looking forward to these series.
