Yeah I've never beaten an FF game, or any JRPG for that matter.
It's a genre I've always been interested in getting into, but there's just SO MUCH out there. I don't even know where to start.

I lose interest in turn-based combat. My tiny attention span needs real-time battles. I played through several hours of Persona 5 and quite enjoyed its depth, but after a while, I needed something that moved at a quicker pace. I keep meaning to go back to it, but I don't. Now it's been so long since I played, I don't know if I'd remember everything I need to remember.
Hey, Duke, are you playing the Mass Effect remaster?
The hugely anticipated announcement of a new Switch has finally come and...
It has a 7" screen.
That's it.
Okay, biggest disappointment of the year so far.
New Switch model out in October, with an OLED screen. Increase from 6.2" to 7" screen doesn't seem like a lot on paper, but it'll probably feel significant when in your hands. Also a wider adjustable kickstand. I'll probably upgrade sometime next year. Still getting a PS5 first.
And after trying lots of different survival/crafting games, I've discovered I do not like them -- I was just chasing the dragon that is The Long Dark. Most survival games consist of "production chains" of various resources until you reach a certain point where you build an impenetrable, self-sustaining fortress and effectively win. The Long Dark otoh is quiet, simple, and brutally tough: no zombies, no base building, just fending off hunger, thirst, and cold while attempting to find a cave or shelter to sleep for the night. Not a replacement for actual wilderness survival training, but it's the closest thing I have found.
I also like some survival-adjacent city builders, like Banished and They Are Billions (where you have to build a city before a massive zombie horde arrives -- also brutally tough).
It's neat for sure, but there has been a good 4 months of build up that there would be a brand new kind of "Switch Pro" coming, with 4K output and better graphical power in both docked and handheld modes.
Several very reputable sources were like, 100% certain it was coming.
So this just felt like it hit with a thud a bit.
Anyone on here willing to let me give you my Amazon password temporarily so you can buy me the $400 of games currently sitting in my cart?
Thanks everyone!!
Pre-ordered Death Loop and Elden Ring!
I've been playing Ring of Pain. If you like Slay the Spire (Beat the Devil) you should check it out.
It Takes Two is really kiddy. Best game of the year?
Anyone played Observer?
I've been addicted to Griftlands. Holy moly is it good.
I should check out Slay the Spire too, then. Know if it's on PS4/5?
I've been sitting on a copy of Pillars of Eternity for years and decided to try it finally today. Back in the day I was a huge Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale fan back in the day, and this looks to be a great return to that type of game.
Is Dragon Quest 11 an OK jumping on point?
it's perfect actually. such a breezy, fun, gorgeous game but with absolutely rock solid mechanics.
