Can we all collectively agree that country music is just the worst?
Fuck yes. The only thing worse is when they combine it with rap. If I hear that damn Old Town Road trash one more time I'm gonna lose my shit.
It's unfathomable to me that anyone could not like Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Marty Robbins, Kenny Rogers, Conway Twitty, Kitty Wells, Hank Williams, or Tammy Wynette.
Country 40 years ago was a lot different then now.
If you look beyond the mainstream, there's a lot of great country music to be had: Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, to name but a few.
Country music is kind of dead, like rap, but there is still some good stuff out there. Just like rock you have to go outside the mainstream. Also Clear Channel Radio has really ruined things.
I still have a huge spot for 90s country, as I grew up listening to most of it as a kid.
The other day I was straining (won’t share why, use your imagination) and I felt and heard a loud SNAP in my head (back left side), and was immediately hit with intense pain like a bad headache localized to that small area.
It has hurt ever since.
You seriously need to see a doctor.
New thread in the otherwise dead music sub-forum. Albums and songs of the decade, with some enneagram stuff and poetry.
I can’t stand Joe Rogan.
Similar to Jordan Peterson and PewDiePie, I forget Rogan exists until someone mentions him, or he hits the front page of r/all. The most interesting thing about dudes like Rogan and Peterson is that they're significantly older than their demographic. I can't imagine what the ffff Pewds will do when he hits 50.
But I'm curious what you don't like about Rogan, specifically?
I think he's funny. And I like News Radio.
Have you listened to any of his podcast with any notable figures?
I subscribe to him but only listen to guests I like. I've found him to be extremely empathetic to all peoples, to the point of getting disgusted that anyone would even nudge someone aside to further their own profits or whatever.
Edit: Its fine if you don't dig his humor though. And he can be a little bro-y, but usually thats the weed talkin' lol. I feel like he has a huge heart for all people.
His standup is bro-y. His podcast is not, and I really admire that he's probably the only host out there that can get a full scope of people. Artists, politicians, scientists, comedians, etc... And he's pretty receptive to them too.
Yeah, but ... he's doing a cynical and dumber version of what Oprah and Jon Stewart used to do --- offering free access to a huge platform, puppy dogs and ice cream all around.
This includes Gavin McInnes, Alex Jones, Ben Shapiro, and Jordan Peterson. Which makes Rogan pretty fucking gross, in my book.
All I've seen from him is the podcast where he interviews Doug Stanhope (because I'm a huge fan) and it was excellent. He seems like a good interviewer.
I think Joe Rogan’s great. *shrug*
