So this now will be a theater only debut on Oct 1, for 45 days, and then it will be on HBO Max.
So, what's the deal here?

Apparently, Villeneuve said that if this doesn't get an exclusive theatrical window then he's out for the sequel(s). Is a Dune adaptation doomed ala Confederacy of Dunces?

This twitter thread from the official accounts have the eight character posters:
Chang Chen is released separately tho:
This is going to flop so hard.
I think it looks great. I have high hopes. New trailer soonish, from what I hear.
Not talking about its quality at all.
I just mean financially. It's going to flop so hard.
After what happened to 2049, that wouldn't surprise me at all, but that one was still an amazing sensory experience on the big screen (in addition to just being a good movie in general), so I wouldn't be surprised at all if I end up going back to the theater for this one, even if I'm the only one there; c'mon people, support some challenging blockbusters for once!
I would like Denis to make 2061: Odyssey Three. Random thought.
It looks gorgeous.
Having Chani's story as framing in the trailer is the first time I'm interested in this as a work of adaptation. It's most likely only as marketing push with Zendaya, but having her character be more prominent (a bit of actual framing like in the trailer would be great, but I don't think that would be in the film that feels like a traditional adaptation though) actually makes sense to make this work more as a film: making the adapting of only half the book more satisfying, lessening the potential White Savior trope feeling, Zendaya as more major selling point for the film, etc. We'll see.
Certainly looks epic.
Looks cool to me. Can't wait.
Hard to tell from a trailer, but it looks too big for its britches. Still, not a bad epic blockbuster with which to celebrate my return to theater-going. And positive tilt for Villeneuve of course.
To see a big cool sci-fi blockbuster in theaters again, hell yea I'm in for that. Plus the cast/crew are stacked with talent, and they are hurtling through the air without wires with this weird-as-fuck property. That's reason enough to give 'em some of my money.
Effects, scale and overall visual design looks amazing.
But I HATE the colour pallette.
Choosing to make Arrakis and spice a washed out beige is really weird and visually unappealing.
I stopped watching the new trailer after it spoiled a major plot point. Talented cast - isn't that Eddie Marsan as one of the bald guys yet I don't see him in the cast list on IMDB.
I don't think Marsan is in the cast. The prominent bald dudes in the movie are Stellan Skars, Dave Baut/Bat, and David Dastmalchian.
New trailer from China, quite a lotttt of new scenes, so perhaps spoilery to some:

10 minutes away!
Some rumblings that Barry Keoghan will be Feyd-Rautha in Part 2. I'm down with that for sure.
October 2023!
