Serious reply: Italy seems “great” if you’re a man, terrible if you’re a woman, per their media when meToo started (strangely enough it involved Argento then as well).
I would definitely not want to live in Italy. High levels of machismo make me uncomfortable, even as a man. And I think 14 is too young for an age of consent. I just bring it up to point out that there's different opinions about these things.
Rhetorical question but- at what age did MC lose their virginity? I bet it was around the age of 14.
17 for me, but I was kind of shy and uncomfortable before that. A good number of my friends definitively did it sooner.
Italy is the most gorgeous country I've ever known. It's true that cat calling is somewhat common... but not anymore than in Argentina. And from what I've seen they've got a very accepting, laid back attitude about sex in general.
I mentioned Italy, but heck, what Asia did (assuming she did it) wouldn't even be illegal in most states. And that includes in New York, where the Times is breaking the story. On one hand, I don't really get what she was doing. On the other, to mention this in the same breath as Weinstein's abuses is absurd.
Yeah, someone mentioned it would be fine in Las Vegas, too. I think in general, it's probably a good idea if you are past the age of 21 to not have sex with anyone under the age of 18 as a general rule of thumb, even if it is technically legal in that state or country. As a 30-something single man, even dating 21-25 year old women makes me feel old as dirt, but I still occasionally do it.
Sure, it may not be technically illegal, but Asia Argento had considerable power and authority over the other guy, and if she used that to coerce him into a sexual relationship, then I have a huge problem with that.
It's a fair point and you're probably right. I confess that my lack of empathy is largely due to my inability to wrap my head around someone regretting a sexual encounter with Asia Argento.
it's a mind-bender, to be sure!
If no one pointed it out, Asia first met this kid when he was 8 or 9 and she cast him as her son in her film The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things.
That makes it a bit creepier.
I think what she did was wrong, but it does not mean what Weinstein did to her was also not wrong. What Weinstein did to his victims was far worse, too....
So Les Moonves is the creep we thought he was after all.
Shit just got real.
