Indiana Jones and Those Damned Filthy Hippies
I wonder if they'll return to the Temple of Doom or something in that area.
I think this nails the real problem around the character.
Jones and his neo-colonial baggage only travel in a world that the audience views as culturally and technologically unsophisticated. "The Dark Heart of Africa" shit doesn't appeal when you have spy satellites and GPS.
And what are they gonna do? Ford is so damned old. This shit will embarrass everyone involved, the way the last "Rambo" movie did.
Indiana Jones is a tough character outside of the world where you can punch undeniable Nazis in the face.
No thank you.
Still down with the refrigerator toss, lol. Good god.
James Mangold to take over?

My opinion of Mangold has improved since Logan and Ford v. Ferrari so I think he'd do a good job. Also happy if this means Spielberg can work on something else instead of repeating himself for a fifth time, considering his age and dwindling time left to make movies.
The last Indy wasn't hot so perhaps new directing blood is the way to go.
Good choice!
Each new Indiana Jones film has been worse than the last (I like the first two!), so this is probably a good thing.
I think Spielberg has completely lost any nerve he might have ever had.
I don't think today's Spielberg would even be capable of making the films he made 30 years ago.
He is the poster child for "an old white man who makes movies for old white men"
You're not wrong. That being said, it would be rad as hell if out of nowhere he started making hard R horror and sci-fi shit. :D Like real hardcore gross out 80s Cronenberg body horror.
I don't need hard R, I just want his imagination back.
Spielberg's best work has always been his genre stuff. It's no surprise everyone stopped caring about his movies when he forgot how to have any kind of fun.
His next movie is a musical.
So from Ford vs. Ferrari to....Ford vs. Something else.
Mangold has basically been attached to every major franchise since Logan.
July 2022 now
This will most likely suck, so of course I'll be seeing it in theaters.
Ha. This thread title is now accurate
