Julie Taymor, anyone?
Watch it be Denis Villeneuve
Cuaron, perhaps?
If Disney wants to grind out these movies year over year, they should stick with Howard all the way. I'm serious -- what's more depressing than seeing a good, young director get kicked around? It's watching another shitty Star Wars movie. Howard has the ability to deliver something passable without all the bullshit.
(I know Kennedy is firmly entrenched in LucasFilm, but how long before Disney makes a change? This is a helluva lot of drama over a very short period of time.)
You did it, Gareth Edwards.

So badly want it to be from some version of "the Lucasfilm board just had a screening of The Book of Henry" but, as unreliable as they may be, 'sources' say this might stem from "script issues".
Del Toro wanted a SW movie didn't he?
Rian will most likely direct it.
This is wonderful news.
"I don't like directors. They're coarse and rough and their personalities get everywhere"
Kathleen Kennedy
Ugh, no thanks on Del Toro.
Peter Jackson's Star Wars Episode iX
This is probably my #1. Would be so cool if there was some kind of scene where Rey needs to fight a Sith in a cave. A lower level Sith. And during the light-saber battle, there are all these native insects coming out of the walls trying to eat them. So they have to fight the insects in the middle of their saber battle.
Yeah, that's not a good track record.
Regardless, I wouldn't watch anything from the guy who made Safety Not Guaranteed, so I'm glad I'm not more or less forced to.
Rumors have it Johnson will do episode 9 too.
Justin Lin would probably do a good job with a Star Wars movie. One day I hope to imagine what his cut of a Star Wars film would've looked like before Jon Turteltaub's six months of rewrites and reshoots.
The more I think about it, the more I actually think I want Spielberg. I'd rather other directors be doing other director things. Spielberg has become irrelevant to me so why not give him the reins to wrap up this story arch.
