Very cool. Love how personal she seems to be making the project.
Can't wait!
This will be awesome.
- Using your dead father to shill for Disney is super fucking gross.
- It's doubly weird they had Jenkins profess her bona fides for this.
You guys are weird
And? I'm not sure what the arguement is here?
Patty jenkins: my dad was in the air force. I love star wars. Now I get to make a thing combing both yaaaaaay
Irish and duke: shill, bs, money whore
Lol what
- Criticizing Jenkins isn't inherently misogynistic. Nobody used the word 'whore,' just you.
- That her dad was in the Air Force is irrelevant to her directorial skill. It's a dumb line of reasoning. Did she have a unique insight into "Wonder Woman" because her mother is an Amazonian princess?
- She didn't just reference her father's military background, she laid it on heavy ("who died in service of this country"). It's pure red meat and horribly manipulative.
- Invoking the image of dead family members to promote corporate product is vulgar.
- What is wrong with you?
ETA: George Lucas' father owned a stationary store, so I guess that makes Lucas uniquely qualified to make romcoms for the Hallmark channel.
ETA 2: These posts aside, I am sorry to hear about your dog.
Irish gonna Irish lol
Kid? I thought we were same age-ish.
Patti probably got approached to do something/anything, and if by reviewing the various projects, she selected Rogue Squadron as a way to do an incredibly personal project within the commercial system, then that's awesome.
Irish I'm not trying to flat out deny your points, but it feels like an extremely cynical take. Is it not even remotely possible that maybe Jenkins could be sincere? Especially considering we havent seen the actual work yet? And this is coming from the least hoorah murica military movie/video game guy there is. I'm disgusted by that stuff.
The eyeroll in this thread is over 9000.
I really just hope they have Porkins.
Let's start a Porkins cult. I've never felt more motivated for anything in my entire life.
