Will this be as good as Ridley Scott's Robin Hood? Time will tell.

Ah, yes. Another movie about Dracula. Just what the world needs. But, hey, free IP and an international brand name! What could possibly go wrong?
I looked this up on Wikipedia and there isn't one person involved whose name I recognize. Neither the writers nor the director have a feature credit before this movie, yet it has a $100 million budget.
Untold? But they are telling it! Isn't that the same as releasing a war movie called Apocalypse not now?
The budget is because when the project was greenlit, it was going to be directed by Alex Proyas and star Sam Worthington, back when he was still hot shit a few years ago.
After Proyas dropped, they got this dude Gary Shore, who got representation and several picture deals with Universal based on this one trailer he made that got passed around Hollywood:

Universal was turning that trailer into a feature. I'm guessing that went nowhere and they passed him off to this instead.
Which is weird, right? I mean if they kept the budget that means they're betting on a complete unknown. And that they see Proyas' creative input and real dollar value to be worth effectively zero.
Got any backstory on Burk Sharpless, writer of Dracula Untold? Because that's a person I'd like to get to know. They sound like something out of a pulp novel.Quote:

Yeah. He and the other writer, Sazama, are angling to be the new Kurtzman and Orci.
They're writing Alex Proyas' new Egypt movie, Gore Verbinski's Clue remake, and the Flash Gordon reboot.
Sheesh. Slap a cowl on him and he could be Batman.
I hope his cape disintegrates into bats every time he exits a room. Every time he leaves the house. After a while, the movie ramps up, hits another level, and his cape just starts disintegrating into bats with every movement. He can't finish a line without bats.
Dracula Begins
From the Producers Who Saw Underworld
Really bad title. Awful poster. This movie sounds like a real winner.
The sequel will be Dracula Unfilmed.
Mirror while it lasts.
Hahahaha. I will definitely be checking this out...online sometime. Dance, Lorde, Dance!

I saw Luke Evans in a bar once. I didn't know who he was, but I knew he was an actor because he was too tall and good looking to be otherwise. Good story.
Just watched the trailer. Holy hell this looks bad.
We should start pool on the inevitably low tomato meter score. Whoever guesses closest wins .. something? Sidebets for predicting if this will be more poorly received than I, Frankenstein.
