I think that's a bad idea. Somebody told me that if you like it, then you should put a ring on it.

Thinking about going to the USA with a friend sometime in 2011. Haven't given it a lot of thought yet, but it could be fun. Might try out for a MLS team while I'm there. :P
Oh, also, do you have pretty girls and loads of vodka, rum and beer?
Could be.
We're hoping for this fall/winter, but it all depends on how long it takes the VISA to be OK'd.
We have friends that have done this process and it was 9+ months.
BUT, good news is, when I'm back it's for good.
So in the end, the painful wait will have been worth it.
By the way, this article in the New Yorker about Scientology and Paul Haggis is fascinating. I ended up reading all 26 pages (!!) today. He was affiliated with Scientology for 34 years, so he has a lot to say, both for very bad and for marginally good. The writer does a good job of getting out into the web of the whole thing: family, friendships, careers that are completely built around Scientology and why it's so hard to leave.
By the way, the "Gold Base" that they go on about is minutes away from my best friend's house. I've driven by it a few times.

This is why I love Brad Bird.
No. If we were to just get married that would make the wait even longer. The US government isn't too happy if a foreigner marries a citizen without notifying them first.
We're applying for the K-1 fiancee VISA. It takes anywhere from 6 to 12 months to go through, and when they notify me that all's OK, I can move to the states.
Once there, Jen and I will have 90 days to get married, then the process of becoming an American citizen begins for me.
Watch The Proposal.
My dad refuses to become an American citizen. He's a permanent resident, though.
They say it takes six months, but depending on the state, they give that length of time just because that's the longest it'll take.
Well, it is NY you're applying to, so...
In Colorado, I got told two to four months for a passport. Took two weeks.
I find it strange that the first few lines of the song "On Our Own" by Bobby Brown just popped into my head. I haven't heard the song or seen Ghostbusters II in at least 15 years. I did make a Bobby Brown drug reference the other night, so this is probably karma.
