If you like Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's, and Radiohead's OK Computer, then I also highly recommend the Easy Star All-Star's dub-reggae versions of each. More than just a gimmick, the Easy Star all-star reggae band turns each of these albums into something uniquely their own. The Dub Side of the Moon is my favorite, and it is a fantastic album.
I listened to about 3 hours of Slagsmallsklubben today.
Also I'm now torrenting the discog of Tommy February6.
The Orb - DDD
Love this song!
Of Montreal - The Past is a Grotesque Animal
I don't think the band will ever make a song better than this one.
Muslimgauze - "Cairopraktor 4"
I *heart* The Fiery Furnaces. New single is 2:58 of pure goodness.
Also, whatever happened to Fatboy Slim? Better Living Through Chemistry is damn near perfect techno-pop-scuzz.
Phil Collins -- "Take Me Home"
Um, guys. Don't hate on me too much, but I think I'll be downloading this track. I rather love its drum rhythm. And its chorus. And think it is quality.
Camera Obscura - "Forrest and Sands"
I'll be damned if this isn't the best song of this year so far.
I'll make a plug here for John Rutter's arrangement of Shakespeare's poem "Blow Blow Thou Winter Wind."
Just downloaded it. I love it.
My high school's madrigal singers use to perform it, and it was always my favorite part of the night.
The Interruptor - African Satellite Dub
Loop - "Too Real to Feel"
I know these guys are basically a Spacemen 3 tribute band, but I might like 'em more than Pierce & co.
Sonic Youth -- "Do You Believe in Rapture?"
Really feeling how fundamentally solid Murray Street is compared to Rather Ripped (purchased both at the same time), but this song is quite nice.
Anybody like Pandora Radio? I'm loving it so far.
Get The Eternal, which is a marked improvement over the relatively one-note RR. Sonic Youth have actually had great decade, what with NYC Ghosts and Flowers, Murray Street, Sonic Nurse and The Eternal, along with The Destroyed Room. Five awesome albums starting 20 years into your career is pretty impressive.
Let's Call It Love, Sleater-Kinney
:pritch:
The Grodeck Whipperjenny - "Put Your Thing on Me"
Acid-fried booty-shaking goodness. And the best band name ever.
Akron/Family - Set 'Em Wild, Set 'Em Free
Really good album
