Given a lot more time and consideration, I'd fill in some blind spots and reorganize some, I'm sure. But were there a top 50, these would all be on it for sure.
I spy 2 more games that would be on my top 20.
Still debating to release my list or not.
My faves in no particular order. Trying to think of the games I had the most fun with over the years...
1. Star Control 2
2. City of Champions
3. Rock Band 3
4. Red Dead Redemption

I don't play a lot of old games, and many games I used to love (namely God of War and Metal Gear Solid) I kind of hate now, so my list is focused on more recent stuff. Alphabetical order within tiers. Either the Last of Us or Dark Souls is my favorite game of all time--not sure which.
Tier 1:
Civilization 5
Dark Souls
The Last of Us
Some JRPG of my youth (Final Fantasy, Chrono Cross, etc.)
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Tier 2:
Bioshock (Infinite)
Command and Conquer: Generals
Mass Effect
Red Dead Redemption
Resident Evil 4
Tier 3:
FTL
Half-Life 2
Limbo
Prison Architect
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Tier 4:
Frequency
Halo 2
Hearthstone
Hotline Miami
Rollercoaster Tycoon
some Games I love from each list - a * means that I could easily include it in a top 50
My favorite voice performance is Solaire, from Dark Souls.
He's the only non-PC (I make that distinction because of the game Journey. The PC character is another that I felt for, but that's because of the actions I put it through) character in any game that I've ever felt for. This is extraordinary considering that the total running time of all of his dialog is about 2 minutes. His ending is absolutely tragic.
I usually don't care at all about story in games (because even the best I usually find worse than the most mediocre genre novels), and I usually don't care about acting in a game (because I am more interested in playing the game, not watching/listening to one).
Nine times out of ten I will skip all cut-scenes if I am able to.
I'm pretty much the bane of modern, cinematic game developers, because I'm skipping all of their hard work. :)
I haven't sat down and completed a game in a while so I'm way behind on games of the past few years.
My list is probably something like this:
1. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
2. Bioshock
3. Shining Force 2
4. A Link to the Past
5. Lunar 2: Eternal Blue
6. Mass Effect 3
7. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
8. Final Fantasy IX
9. Persona 4
10. Banjo Kazooie
Oh my god, Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I used to get so much of a kick out of that game. Remember those little Tiki Dolls that threw the hatchets? We used to call them Hoo-Haws for what they yelled when running around, and spent basically an entire summer yelling HOO-HAW at each other for an easy laugh. Good times!

Heck, perhaps I'm even missing some. I'll revise it later on if another springs to mind.
A strong choice.
I never played DQ VIII, but it seems to have a purely British cast. Rare stuff in VO. Agreed on ME, including the preference for "FemShep". J-Hale all the way.Quote:
From an RPG standpoint, I love the voice work in Dragon Quest VIII and the Mass Effect series (except for male Shep).
Ah Twisted Metal might make my list too.
It's gotta be Twisted Metal 2, though, right?
TM2 is the best.
That would definitely be on my top 20 list. I actually almost put both TM and TM2 on it.
Hated the spectre car that could shoot rockets that flew through buildings. Pretty cheap. Still, the first two TM games were amazing, the grid-like nature of many levels far more suited to the more open nature of TM: Black. The first two TM games were almost like pac-man in that regard.
Picked up Last of Us Remastered for half off at Gamestop by returning my PS3 copy. It's gorgeous.
Playing through grounded mode for the first time, and it's so ridiculously hard. I've already died 80 times and I'm only at the bookstore. We'll see if frustration sets in at any point, but so far this is my favorite way to play. No HUD whatsoever. The only way to check your ammo is by switching guns or just remembering, and the only way to check your health is by seeing if Joel is clutching his side. Not that it matters because most gunshots kill you in one hit. Makes me really strategize and be patient, just as if it were really happening.
Oh shit. I forgot about that discount when trading in my PS3 version. Fuck.
The Bulldozer was the most fun in TM2. Come out of nowhere and absolutely trash that Mr Grimm on a motorcycle.
Mr Slam!!!!!
I have a stack of games I'd like to be playing, but I'm too busy working. Its normal. Summer hours. Most of my gaming is in the winter. But, I have been loving this game Clash Of Clans on my phone. Its fun and easy and doesn't take long. Check it out if you haven't.
