When was the last time we got a multip-platform new IP 5 months after a next gen launch that had these kinds of scores? It's impressive Ubi was able to do this.Quote:

Don't really understand peoples fascination with metacritic scores when it comes to videogames. I don't see people here posting that they aren't going to see a movie because it's tomatometer is low.
I'm certainly not hyper-focused on the score, but the reviews are very helpful in the same way that they are for films. An average score usually means average reviews, which usually translates into an average game (of course there are exceptions), so the score will lead me to the reviews, which often dictate whether I'll pay full price for a game.Quote:

* The map doesn't rotate to the direction you're facing, making it hard to get to destinations
* can't pause the game to refill my beer, but that's the nature of MMOs.
* You need to equip armor to gain attribute bonuses, which covers up my awesome tank top and tube socks. Probably will end up needing to craft to get a look that I want with the stat bonuses I need.
* A lot of the hero names are just terrible (eg. NiteBlade_234)
This was always a big pet peeve of mine when it came to MMOs. Running an instance with someone calling themselves Buckethead, L3gola55, or Critler really took me out of the games. (Nevermind the jackass, funny-the-first-time, pun filled guild names).Quote:

Because you're paying $60+ for a game, as opposed to $10-12 for a movie, so I can understand why people can hinge on scores. It's my favourite controller, so I think this is very cool. I hope this means that some Gamecube titles will make their way onto the Virtual Console (I still haven't played Eternal Darkness).
I'm really digging Watch Dogs thus far. I played for about 2 1/2 hours tonight. A little glitchy, but I like the controls, the massive world, and hacking into things is a lot of fun.

Back to the Future / PS3 (this game sucks, it's amazing that Telltale went from this and Jurassic Park in 2011 early 2012 to having the almost unanimous game of the year less than a year later with The Walking Dead)
The Walking Dead Season 2: Episode 3 / PS3 (still fantastic, Clem continues to be one of my favorite videogame characters ever)
The Wolf Among Us Episode 4 / PS3 (still not as good as The Walking Dead but I'm enjoying it. This was probably the weakest episode so far)
Transistor / PS4 (I was a big Bastion fan and while this isn't quite as good it's still a fantastic game. It took me a little while to get hooked but once I did I couldn't stop. I'm 3/4 of the way through new game plus right now. This game nails it's presentation. Everything from the voice acting, the overall look, and the soundtrack are all top notch)
Sparkle 2 / PS4 (In the same style as Zuma/Luxor but with an attempt at a story and a Harry Potter sounding soundtrack. I use to love Zuma so this scratches that itch and is fun to play for 30 minutes bursts.)
Mario Kart 8 / Wii U (played through most of the 50cc levels since the last MK I really played was MK64 but it's like I never left. I love these games and I'll definitely be devoting a bunch of time to this)
Had a blast with Mario Party 2 yesterday. Not sure the Next Gen games have quite gotten a "party game" quite like the N64. The Mario Kart, Mario Party, Goldeneye, and even the WWF No Mercy games all can get people together for fun. The others work better online.

Unoriginal opinion: those three titles constitute one of the greatest gaming experiences ever. I want to replay all of these soon. Unbelievably good. You definitely should be looking forward to Episode 1 and 2, especially if it is going to be your first time.Quote:
