I'd like it if it didn't take FOREVER to load. Sometimes the load times seem longer than the race. Makes exploring the options more of a chore.
Really great game, though.

So I ended up buying all the episodic game bundles in the Sony Flash Sale ("Monkey Island", "Jurassic Park", "Back to the Future", "Sam & Max").
Amazing deals for sure, but man, what a pain in the ass that each one is saved to your game library episode-by-episode, rather than having one game (ie one "Back to the Future" panel) that you can enter and choose the episode you want to play.
My game library page is a mess now.
The floodgates opened up in FTL. Didn't beat it once until 40+ hours, but now I've beat it three times and haven't even hit 50. I've also unlocked 6 ships in that time. This game is so punishingly hard that even with my recent successes it seems foolhardy to attempt it on normal mode.
early 3D polygons are the best kind of polygons
So, if Elder Scrolls Online doesn't scratch the itch that Skyrim started, we have a very promising-looking RPG in Dragon Age: Inquisition coming down the pipe a few months down the road (10/7). Looking pretty sweet, if you ask me!
I'm really looking forward to Dragon Age: Inquisition, but I'm worried about the rumors that they've essentially dismantled the dialogue system that I love so much. Thus, it will be a wait-and-see buy for me.
Why would BioWare dismantle the best thing they are known for?
I hope the dialog stuff is dismantled, and the focus is more on actually playing the game, because it looks rad. But they're not very good writers or story tellers, so I don't want to spend a ton of time listening to and reading what they write.
It's one of my favorite things about the game. My only wish would be for my dialogue choices to have a deeper impact on the story progression. I await the day when a choice I make early in the game majorly affects the course of the entire story. Meaning, different characters, different environments, different quests, different enemies, completely different ending, you name it, just because I chose one path over another. The main story in the game could potentially be shorter to accomodate for all the branches, but the replay value would go through the roof.
I'm home. I just watched the trailer.
I'm buying the game, dialogue system or no. Goddamn it.
I thought Morrigan was supposed to return. I miss her boobs.
I very much agree that the dialogue choices need to have more impact on the story. IMO we have yet to see a "choose your own adventure" type of game that has meaningful impact from your decisions. Binary "good and evil" is boring and, still, rarely has much effect.
However, claims that BioWare doesn't write good stories and characters are silly. Industry leaders. I know that's not saying much, video games have a lot of work to do in the story/character department...but BioWare gives RockStar a run for their money.
I played almost 5 hours straight of original Spyro today. I'm at over 80% complete. I definitely got my 99 cents worth.
I now have:
(Paragon 85)
A lvl 70 Crusader
A lvl 70 Barbaian
A lvl 70 Witch Doctor
A lvl 25 HARDCORE Demon Hunter
I can't stop playing Diablo 3
Yeah, I agree. Rockstar are pretty bad at it as well.
Games do better when they present their story through gameplay and interaction - games like Journey and Ico do well because these kinds of games aren't using the devices better left to books and movies, but are, instead, embracing the things that make games unique.
Bioware and Rockstar games often feel like they're made by frustrated film directors or screen writers, rather than game designers, which is why I don't like the stories or dialog in their games.
So is anyone else playing Elder Scrolls Online? I've hit the Vet content and it's just starting to get really challenging. I like it. If yes, my username is Goldmundion. Feel free to add.
My PS3 fan sounds like a jet engine when it's on. I think it may be on its last legs. No more Mortal Kombat. :(
I'll be playing Elder Scrolls Online when it comes out on PS4.
So, what are your thoughts on the game? Does it justify the monthly subscription fee? The reviews I've been reading have painted it as good, not great, and that people going in expecting another Skyrim experience are going to be disappointed, while people looking for an MMO set in the Elder Scrolls world are going to be more satisfied.
It's really fun but yeah part of that fun is playing with buddies of mine from back in the day. I've never played Skyrim so I can't really comment on similarities or differences there. It plays like most MMO's I've played (Asheron's Call and Lord of the Rings Online) so the above analysis is probably fairly accurate.
