Heard nothing good about Ghosts and Battlefield as well, so I figured I'd give Killzone a try. Oh well, my 12-year-old is far less critical than we are, so hopefully he'll still dig it.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, and I know I've chosen legendary difficulty, but I've now first encountered the new kind of villains on Requiem in Halo 4....and this is no fun at all. They take a preposterous amount of bullets before they die and I'm literally unable to put more than one of them down. I sincerely hope this isn't what 343 studios had in mind when they thought about legendary difficulty, because that difficulty in the past came from the enemy's cunning and agility, and sure enough a bit more armour I suppose, but never simply from soaking up millions of bullets before shuffling off this mortal coil. Unless there's something I'm missing here - stealth approach? A sort of super move I'm not using? - I may prematurely throw in the towel.
Now, I would take into account, that I didn't play nearly as much games this gen as most of you guys (I figure it averaged out to about 1 game every 2 months), so I obviously missed a lot of AAA titles, but here are my faves of the games I actually played.

Morris - they take no more bullets than the Covenant, you just need to be strategic about whete you're hitting them.
Don't aim for armor :)
Don't get me wrong I'm not playing the garbage stuff just collecting. I don't collect alot of stuff I just find it fun to try and get a complete set when there are so many weird games out there. I mean I own a Cold Stone Creamery & a Jelly Belly game. That's awesome right? Where else are you going to get a lumberjack simulator and a tapping game (where you are supposed to have a cardboard box to set the wiimote on and then you tap the box to the rhythm.)
The tapping game was made by Yuji Naka.
:)
I just can't imagine collecting stuff - spending money and space - on things that are bad. I also think it sends the wrong message to publishers. I try to only buy stuff that I think is genuinely good, so that there is a better chance that more things that I think are good will get made.
I know I own it.
But about the message to publishers I'm only buying these games used and on the "shovelware" side I'm spending on average $1-2 a game complete with manual.
And don't get me wrong there is a solid 100+ great games for the Wii. I own most of them. There are also some rare ass games for the Wii that cost over $100.
I'm just fascinated with the system. I hated it when I bought it at launch because of the motion controls even though I was a big Nintendo fan. I then got one later on once the motionplus stuff came out and fixed most of the control problems and found out there was a ton of fun games for it most of which you can't get anywhere else. It's also an incredibly uncool system to say you like and I'm drawn to that.
What's uncool about liking the Wii (and why would one care anyways)?
Hearthstone open beta. Like most games like this, I won't know what problems I'll have until I get further in, but right now it's really fun. The presentation is great. It's really similar to Magic, but whatever. I certainly like it more than Duels of the Planeswalkers. They need to let you manually rearrange your hand though.
Holy crap, "DMC" is totally batshit insane, but at least its juvenile humor and total over-the-topness is tongue in cheek and self aware.
The worlds and the interplay between the real and "limbo" are super cool, and there's some wicked enemy design.
Enjoying it a lot so far.
Last of Us may have the most addicting multi-player in a game I've played for quite some time.
No rules, do whatever.
I just included the two consoles that I owned, and 1 Wii game.
I just made a new category.
Here's what I did: I started in 2005, went through each list like this, wrote down every game I played in that year, picked my top 5 of that year, sorted it down to best game each year, ranked them 1-7, added a PC category, and threw in the two biggest disappointments.
Posting in a few.
