i'm with acapelli in loving this album. it slips a bit after the first 4 tracks, but only because those are as infectious and catchy as any pop songs i've heard in a while. love the way they subtly integrate new wave sounds into this album.
The Firstborn -- "Flesh to the Crows"
An attempt by a Portugal death metal band to construct an album around Buddhist Scriptures. Color me intrigued; nice use of more traditional percussion to the metal proceeding.
Anyone heard the first single from Dylan's Together Through Life? It's fucking awesome.
Speaking of Dylan, a friend of mine gave me every episode of Theme Time Radio Hour about a week ago and I feel like an idiot for never getting on top of this shit. Every episode has been wonderful in its own little way, but all together I can't believe there's something out there on the radio like this. Anyone a long-time listener?

Grabbed up Goo last week. Definitely digging it more than Dirty, though I seem to have a distaste against the majority of Kim's vocals. She's more tolerable on this album for some reason. And the musicianship is more in tune with Sister, too, which helps...
Horslips - Exiles
70's era Irish band - a blend of Fairport Convention/Jethro Tull/Steeleye Span.
I forgot just how much I liked them.
Exiles is a great song, and so is Speed the Plough.
Yeah, it is pretty amazing. To be honest, I'm more enamored by it because of the completely under discussed The Band (who you should totally listen to if you haven't), but Dylan is in fine form here. This is perhaps his last great work in fairness before he succumbed to his religious mysticism and age caught up with him.Quote:

Some interesting stuff on this album. I don't like it as much as the Tom Heasley stuff, but it is still nice to listen to an instrument that has gone unnoticed to me for far too long.
